Check the Cummins Diesel Generator Gear Chamber and Gear Chamber Cover

Cummins diesel generator set is a machine with high precision in its components, so maintenance and assembly are also very strict. Even a slight deviation may lead to potential faults in the unit. How to check the gear chamber and gear chamber cover

1. Check for cracks, leaks, or other damages and repair according to the specific situation;

2. Check the threads of the bolts and replace them if damaged;

3. Check the threads of the screws. If the threads are damaged, use thread inserts and repair them;

4. If the locating pin is damaged, replace the locating pin or expand the pin hole to fit a larger sized locating pin;

5. When the power steering pump is not used, a plug needs to be installed on the power steering shaft hole of the integral gear chamber;

6. Dismantle and scrap all oil seal rings, and measure whether the shaft sleeve is worn;

7. Check for cracks, leaks, or other damages on the gear chamber cover, repair as necessary, and install the crankshaft oil seal, water pump oil seal, and accessory drive device oil seal on the gear chamber cover after installing the engine;

When repairing, it should be done from the inside out to avoid debris falling into the engine. If the gear chamber needs to be replaced, the installation should be carried out according to the following methods:

1. Check the cleanliness of the installation surface of the gear chamber or any defects caused during transportation or other defects.

2. First, press the locating pin into the locating pin hole on the front end face of the cylinder body, install the process locating pin at the corresponding position of the cylinder body, fit the gear chamber sealing gasket on the process locating pin, then install the gear chamber, manually tighten the other four bolts, and then tighten the other bolts.

3. Remove the three process positioning pins, manually tighten the three bolts and ensure that the sealing gasket is still aligned, then tighten the remaining bolts.

4. Check the unevenness between the installation surface of the oil pan in the gear chamber and the installation surface of the oil pan in the cylinder block, which should be within ± 0.13mm. If the sealing gasket is higher than the installation surface of the oil pan, it should be trimmed with a knife to not exceed 0.25mm above the installation surface of the oil pan.
