Chongqing Cummins Generator Set Engine Warranty Power Regulations
The warranty terms are applicable to new engines sold by Chongqing Cummins Engine Co., Ltd. and delivered to the first user on or after July 1, 2005, which are used to drive generators in Chinese Mainland with special maintenance services provided by Chongqing Cummins, and engines sold outside Chinese Mainland have other provisions. These engines have the following power specifications:
Backup power
The engine with this power is suitable for providing emergency power during a power outage in the public sector. This rated engine cannot achieve overload capacity. Under no circumstances shall the engine be allowed to operate in parallel with the utility power at its reserve rated power. This power is applied in places where reliable public electricity can be obtained.
The operation of Cummins engines with backup power is limited to a maximum of 80% of the average load factor and no more than 200 hours of operation per year. This includes operating at standby power for no more than 25 hours per year. Backup rated power should never be used unless in an emergency situation where there is a real power outage. Negotiable power outages as stipulated in the contract with the utility company are not considered emergency situations.
Common power without limiting running time
The engine of this power is used in variable load situations with unlimited hours per year. During any 250 hour operation, the variable load should not exceed 70% of the average common power. The total operating time at 100% common power should not exceed 500 hours per year. During the 12 hour operation period, it can achieve a load capacity of over 10% for 1 hour. The total operating time at 10% load power should not exceed 25 hours per year.
Common power for limiting running time
The engine of this power is used for non variable load applications that limit the number of hours. It is used in the event of power outage as stipulated in the contract. For example, a public power company reduces power supply. The engine can operate in parallel with public electricity for no more than 750 hours per year, but its power level should never exceed the commonly used power.
The difference between the commonly used power with limited operating time and the commonly used power without limited operating time is that even if the maximum output power of the engine is the same, the Cummins engine with limited operating time can operate in parallel with the utility power and run at full load at the commonly used power, but it is never allowed to exceed the commonly used power.
Continuous/Basic Power
This power is used for supplying public electricity at a constant load of 100% for an unlimited number of operating hours per year. This power cannot achieve overload operation capability.
Compared with the commonly used power without limited operating time, the continuous/basic power is much lower than the commonly used power. Continuous/basic power has no load factor or application limitations.
