Electric Control Unit Pump Position Sensor Malfunction

The position sensors of the so-called diesel generator electronic control unit pump diesel engine mainly include the crankshaft speed (position) sensor and the camshaft speed (position) sensor.

1. The camshaft position sensor and crankshaft speed sensor belong to signal generation sensors, and detection mainly depends on whether they can correctly send signals and whether the signals they send are synchronized. To ensure the correct phase of the sensor signal, it is necessary to ensure the mechanical installation accuracy of the sensor and the gap between the sensor and the signal panel within the technical requirements. Check if the gap between the crankshaft speed sensor is (0.6 ± 0.1) mm, and the gap between the camshaft position sensor is 0.3-1.2mm. If conditions permit, use a signal oscilloscope to check if the two signals are synchronized.

2. The resistance value between terminals 1 (A1O) and 2 (A50) of the camshaft position sensor, as well as terminals 1 (A27) and 2 (Al2) of the crankshaft speed sensor, should be around Ik Ω. If the resistance value is too small, the internal electromagnetic coil of the sensor may be short circuited. These two sensors belong to the magneto electric type and have permanent magnets inside. If they are removed and stored, they should be avoided on iron shelves. They can be stored on wooden shelves to avoid demagnetization. In addition, sensors are also prone to adsorbing debris such as iron filings, which should be promptly removed to avoid affecting the accuracy of the sensor.

3. If two sensors fail simultaneously, the diesel generator will not be able to ignite. If only the camshaft position sensor fails, the ECU will automatically determine the cylinder sequence. When starting, the diesel engine may feel slow to start and there may be slight shaking, but after starting, the operation of the diesel engine will return to normal. If only the crankshaft speed sensor fails, it will not affect the ignition of the diesel generator, but it will reduce the smoothness of the diesel engine during normal operation.
