How to Form a Cooling System for Marine Diesel Generator Sets?

The cooling system of the Landi series turbocharged diesel generator set can be divided into two types: separate and closed. Turbocharged air to air cooling models can only use closed cycle; If the pressurized water is cooled in the air, an open cycle can be used. The open cycle system mainly consists of freshwater pumps, seawater pumps, heat exchangers, intercoolers, etc.

When installing and connecting the cooling water pipeline, the inner diameter of the water pipe should not be smaller than the inner diameter of the relevant component connection port, otherwise it will increase the water pump inlet and outlet resistance, affect the water pump flow rate, and cause the cooling water or oil temperature to be too high. Copper pipes should be used for seawater pipelines to prevent seawater corrosion.

Users are strictly prohibited from knocking, installing incorrectly, or damaging the installation surface when dismantling and inspecting the water pump. After use in winter below O ℃, the drain valves on all components of the cooling system should be opened in a timely manner to drain the accumulated water in the chamber and prevent the water pump from freezing and cracking.

A thermostat is used to regulate the water temperature of a diesel engine. When the cooling water is at a low temperature, the thermostat valve closes and all the water from the cylinder head flows back into the circulating water pump through the thermostat bypass. When the outlet temperature reaches 68 ± 2 ℃, the thermostat valve begins to open. At this time, some of the outlet water still flows back into the circulating water pump through the thermostat bypass, while some of the outlet water is discharged through the thermostat valve. When the outlet temperature reaches 80 ℃, the thermostat valve is fully opened, the bypass is closed, and all outlet water is discharged through the thermostat valve.

When it is necessary to check the thermostat, it can be slowly heated in water. When the water temperature reaches 68 ± 2 ℃, the thermostat should start to open. When the water temperature reaches 80 ℃, the thermostat should be fully opened. The thermostat should be well maintained and not damaged or blocked by dirt, so as not to hinder its normal operation. Without a thermostat, the cooling water temperature of the diesel engine will be too low, which is not conducive to the efficient and normal operation of the diesel engine. Therefore, the thermostat should be repaired or replaced after damage, and should not be easily cancelled.
