How to Start, Use and Stop Cummins Diesel Generator Set?

Cummins diesel generator set is a mechanical equipment that converts other forms of energy into electrical energy. It is driven by water turbine, steam turbine, diesel engine or other power machinery, and converts the energy generated by water flow, air flow, fuel combustion or nuclear fission into mechanical energy and then transfers it to Cummins diesel generator set, which then converts it into electrical energy. Starting of Cummins diesel generator set

1. Check all items before starting, including engine body, connecting pieces, starting electric circuit, coolant and oil pump.

2. For Cummins diesel generator set that has not been used for more than 5 days, the crankshaft shall be rotated for 3-5 revolutions before starting.

3. After checking that all parts are normal, Cummins diesel generator set can be started. If it fails to start within 12 seconds, release the button immediately and start the second time after 2 minutes. If it cannot be started for three consecutive times, stop starting and find out the cause.

4. After low temperature starting, the speed shall be increased as slowly as possible to ensure that the bearing is lubricated enough and the oil pressure is stable.

Use of Cummins diesel generator set

1. After normal startup, the Cummins diesel generator set shall be allowed to run for 3-5 minutes under no-load at a speed of about 750r/min, and observe whether all components of the Cummins diesel generator set operate normally.

2. When the speed of Cummins diesel generator set is 1000~1500r/min, the outlet water temperature is higher than 75 ℃, the oil temperature is higher than 50 ℃, and the pressure of Cummins diesel generator set is higher than 0.25MPa, full load operation is allowed.

3. The level of lubricating oil in the cooling system and all parts shall be checked frequently. If any nonconformity or leakage is found, it shall be supplemented immediately or the causes shall be checked and eliminated.

4. During operation, especially in case of sudden load reduction, attention shall be paid to prevent the sudden increase of diesel engine speed (commonly known as runaway) beyond the specified value due to governor failure. Once it occurs, emergency shutdown measures shall be taken quickly, and then the causes shall be checked.

Shutdown of Cummins diesel generating set

1. Before stopping, first remove the load, then adjust the governor control handle, gradually reduce the speed to about 750r/min, and move the stop handle to stop after running for 3~5min. When stopping, do not stop the diesel engine under full load as soon as possible to prevent overheating and other accidents.

2. In case of emergency or special circumstances, in order to avoid serious accidents of Cummins diesel generator set, emergency stop can be adopted, and the "emergency stop handle" can be turned to the right by hand.

3. After parking, turn the key from "left" to "middle" to prevent the battery current from flowing back.

4. When the ambient temperature is lower than 0 ℃, the cooling liquid in the body shall be drained after the operation of the machine, so as to prevent the cooling liquid from freezing and causing the relevant parts to freeze and crack.

5. The Cummins diesel genset shall be used to monitor whether there is a rubbing sound between the supercharger impeller and the housing immediately after shutdown. If there is a rubbing sound, the supercharger shall be immediately disassembled to check whether the bearing clearance is normal.
