Start the engine and check the oil pressure. If the oil pressure measurement shows that the pressure is below the specified minimum value, continue fault tracing by checking the oil filters. If the oil pressure measurement using an external pressure sensor shows that the pressure is within tolerances, but the regular engine pressure sensor does not, replace the regular pressure sensor.
8 Remove the upper bearing shell by putting a pin in the crankshaft oil hole and rolling the bearing shell out by turning the crankshaft in the direction of rotation with a cranking tool. 9 Clean and check the bearing seats, bearing caps and bearing shells. The bearing surfaces must be completely smooth. Repolish them if there are minor scratches. If a bearing has seized, the cause must be determined
The cylinder head must not be put down such that its entire weight rests on the valve guides. Place the cylinder head on the bench with the valve discs facing upwards. 4 Place a new valve in the valve guide with the valve stem end in the same plane as the edge of the guide. Use a suitable spacer under the valve stem.
5 Adjust the valve clearance for each cylinder according to: Valve clearance, settings 1 Loosen the adjuster screw locking nut (1) on the rocker arm. 2 Fit 885812 Timing tool to the adjuster screw (3). 3 Turn the adjuster screw (3) until zero clearance is obtained between the rocker arm and the valve.
