5 Adjust the valve clearance for each cylinder according to: Valve clearance, settings 1 Loosen the adjuster screw locking nut (1) on the rocker arm. 2 Fit 885812 Timing tool to the adjuster screw (3). 3 Turn the adjuster screw (3) until zero clearance is obtained between the rocker arm and the valve.
This article will introduce maintenance procedures of Perkins generator 4000 Series engines. Make quite certian that the engine cannot be started in any way before undertaking any maintenance, particularly in the case of automatically starting generating sets.
The object of the measurement is to determine selection of the cylinder head gasket. Clean the mating surface, the cylinder block sealing surfaces and the cylinder head. Use cleaning spirits and 885516 Gasket scraper. Install spacers (3) and 9998678 Gauge rod (1) on the engine block sealing surface. Set the dial indicator (2) to ”0”.
Removal 1 Check, and where necessary adjust, valve clearances according to Valves, Adjustment page 49. 2 Remove the injectors; refer to Injector, Change page 123. 3 Remove the electrical connection to the control valve.
