Installation Key Points of Diesel Generator Valve Train

Jan. 03, 2024

When disassembling and assembling the valve distribution mechanism of a diesel generator, attention should be paid to the disassembly and assembly of the rocker arm shaft assembly and the camshaft assembly. When installing, users need to ensure that the timing marks on the timing pulley or sprocket of the crankshaft and camshaft are aligned with the marks on their rear housing, and then install the timing belt or chain to ensure the timing of the valve. The key points for disassembling and assembling the valve distribution mechanism of diesel generators are as follows:

(1) Key points for disassembling and assembling the rocker arm shaft assembly

When disassembling the rocker shaft assembly, gradually loosen the fixing bolts of all rocker shaft supports in several stages, so that the rocker shaft is parallel and away from the cylinder head. This should also be done during installation to prevent the rocker arm shaft from bending due to improper disassembly and assembly.

(2) Key points for disassembling and assembling camshaft assembly

1. Confirm the valve timing mark: Before disassembling the camshaft assembly, carefully observe the valve timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft timing gear. The general rule of the timing mark for gas distribution is that for gear transmission gas distribution mechanisms, the timing mark is usually marked on the gear; For the valve distribution mechanism of synchronous belt drive or chain drive, the valve timing mark is usually made on the timing synchronous belt wheel (or sprocket) and the stationary housing component behind it. When installing, as long as the timing marks on the timing pulley (or sprocket) of the crankshaft and camshaft are aligned with the marks on their rear housing, and then the timing belt (or chain) is installed to ensure the timing of the valve.

2. Disassembly and assembly of center and bottom mounted camshafts: Regardless of whether the center, bottom, or top mounted camshafts are disassembled, their axial positioning must be first released.

The timing gears of the lower camshaft and crankshaft are a pair of cylindrical helical gears. The helical teeth that gnaw on each other are not parallel to the axis of the camshaft and crankshaft. Only by rotating and prying the camshaft gear outward along the shaft can it detach from the gnawing (during installation, after aligning the marks, the camshaft gear should also be pushed while rotating to enter a full tooth gnawing state with the crankshaft gear). Then, it is used to rotate (to prevent the cam and tappet from getting stuck) and extract the camshaft outward.

3. The disassembly and assembly of the upper mounted camshaft: The same key points as the disassembly and assembly of the rocker arm shaft assembly mentioned earlier.
