Introduction to the engine oil strainer assembly

The structure of the oil strainer assembly is quite simple, but attention should still be paid to its installation and maintenance requirements, as it may malfunction at any time. The structure of the oil strainer assembly is shown in the figure. During cleaning, the oil and debris on the strainer must be thoroughly removed. When assembling the components, the gasket must not be distorted or damaged. When installing the oil pump, the joint flange gasket 1 must be flat without wrinkles. The same requirement applies to the flange gasket of the oil pump outlet pipe. For the support plate of the strainer oil pipe, check that there are no cracks. During installation, the support plate should not be deformed or twisted excessively, as this may generate large stress and cause it to break easily due to vibration. Flange gaskets should not be reused. During the engine's operation, if the strainer screen is clogged, the oil pressure gauge will show that the oil pressure changes little from idle to high - speed operation. Or when starting the engine, the oil pressure can still reach 0.1 - 0.2 MPa, but the oil pressure does not increase after acceleration. This is due to partial clogging of the strainer screen.

Installation of the engine oil pan

The oil pan is a thin - walled part and generally should not be struck forcefully to avoid deformation that may affect its use. The oil pan is sealed with the engine block through a gasket. The gasket must be intact without damage. When installing the oil pan during Yuchai generator maintenance, apply force evenly diagonally. Especially for the joint surface between the gear chamber and the front end of the oil pan, it should not be higher than the lower plane of the engine block; otherwise, the oil pan cannot be sealed.

Tip

There is a drain plug under the oil pan, and there is a magnet in the middle of the plug to absorb iron filings in the oil. During the engine's operation, after a period of work, drain the oil and remove the plug to check if there are iron filings adsorbed on its surface. If so, immediately find out the cause and take measures.
