When maintaining the capacitor cabinet, first disconnect the main switch of the capacitor cabinet. Discharge each capacitor to the ground one by one with a wire larger than 25 mm². Then check and tighten the wiring screws of the contactor, reactor, and capacitor. Check whether the grounding device is in good condition. Check whether there is any swelling of the capacitors, and clean the dust inside the cabinet with a vacuum cleaner. After the maintenance is completed, clean up the tools and evacuate the site. Use a 500V megger to measure the insulation resistance between busbars and between busbars and the ground, which should be above 0.5 MΩ.

Maintenance of the Distribution Cabinet of Diesel Generator Set - Commissioning

Disconnect the grounding switch on the high-voltage side of the transformer. After confirming the disconnection position, close the load switch on the high-voltage side of the transformer. Observe whether the transformer of the diesel generator set operates normally under no-load conditions. Then lock the high-voltage cabinet with a lock and remove the sign. Close the low-voltage side air switches step by step and check whether the low-voltage distribution cabinet is working properly.

Safety Precautions for the Maintenance of the Distribution Cabinet of Diesel Generator Set

1. Test for electricity after the power outage.

2. When maintaining the distribution cabinet in sections, install an isolation device at the junction of the live and non-live distribution cabinets.

3. When operating the vacuum circuit breaker on the high-voltage side, wear insulating boots and gloves and have a dedicated person for supervision.

4. When maintaining the capacitor cabinet, do not touch it before discharging the capacitors to the ground.

5. Before energizing after the maintenance is completed, first check whether there are any tools left inside the distribution cabinet.
