Quick Repair Method for Loose Valve Seats in Diesel Generator Sets

The valve seat of a diesel generator set is a circular surface machined on the cylinder block or cylinder head. The valve cone is sealed or seated on the valve seat. The valve seat provides a sealing surface for the intake and exhaust valves, which can prevent gas leakage and help dissipate the heat accumulated on the valves. It is an important structure in the diesel generator set. When the valve seat becomes loose, it will affect its normal function. At this time, the user should repair it in a timely manner.

The quick repair method for loose valve seats is to use phosphate copper oxide inorganic adhesive for bonding.

1、 Clean the joint surface. Thoroughly remove the carbon deposits and dirt on the seat holes and seats of the diesel generator set, and then use a scraper and coarse sandpaper to scrape and polish the joint surface, forming a certain roughness. Then dip the degreased cotton in acetone, trichloroethylene, or banana water solvent to wipe off the oil stains on the joint surface.

2、 Glue making. When mixing solid powdered copper oxide with liquid phosphoric acid in a ratio of 1ml phosphoric acid solution to 3.5-4.5g copper oxide powder (to be added more in winter), first pour the copper oxide powder onto a copper mixing plate, then add less phosphoric acid, stir with bamboo strips, and then add the solution while stirring until the filament can be pulled out.

3、 Adhesive bonding. Evenly apply the prepared phosphate copper oxide inorganic adhesive onto the treated joint surface with bamboo strips, then insert the seat ring into the hole, and apply a layer of adhesive at the joint seam. Gently tap around the seat ring with a small hammer to fully fill the gap. After baking with a blowtorch, avoid direct flame baking of the adhesive surface to prevent the formation of air holes in the adhesive layer, which may affect the bonding strength; If there is no blowtorch, it can naturally solidify at room temperature for 3-4 hours.
