Regular Cleaning Operation of Diesel Generator Filter

Starlight will give you a brief introduction about the regular cleaning operation of the diesel generator filter and the regular cleaning of the three types of filters for the diesel generator. In general, regular cleaning of the filter of the diesel generator can prolong the service life of the diesel generator.

Felt filter: the felt filter of Starlight diesel generator is mainly composed of filter, filter element, filter cover, etc. The filter element is installed in the filter body, which is composed of a metal mesh, a silk cloth cover and a felt filter piece. The filter piece is composed of seven thicker pieces and eight thinner pieces, which are alternately installed on the filter screen. A pressing plate is welded on the upper end of the filter screen, a base is welded on the lower end, and a nut is screwed on the base. The felt filter piece is tightly pressed on the pressing plate at the upper end through the lower tray.

The filter cover is screwed with the inlet and outlet pipe joints and the cock of the vent pipe, and the cock is equipped with a vent nozzle. The filter body and the filter cover are connected by a central rod, one end of which is screwed into the screw plug at the bottom of the filter body, and the other end is screwed with a nut to connect them. The filter element is pressed against the filter cover by a spring installed on the plug.

The fuel enters the inner cavity between the filter element and the housing from the fuel inlet pipe 7, and then flows into the inner cavity of the metal mesh through the felt filter and the silk cloth sleeve, and then flows along the oil pipe to the outlet pipe. The purpose of installing the oil pipe is to absorb clean and airless fuel, while the air is collected in the upper part of the filter. The bleeder cock is used to release air from the oil chamber and filter the air in the fuel. Exhaust the air before starting the diesel engine.

High pressure slot filter: Before the fuel of Starlight diesel generator enters the fuel injection nozzle, many diesel engines are also equipped with high pressure slot filter for the last filtration. The filter is made of ground steel filter rod, which is inserted into the sleeve with a very small clearance (about 0.02-0.04mm).

There are 8-40 oil grooves milled on the filter rod. Half of them are oil inlet and the other half are oil outlet. The two are staggered. The fuel enters from one end and flows out from the other end through the gap, leaving some small impurities in the groove for filtering. It can also prolong the service time of the fuel injection nozzle, but when the fuel quality is good, the filter can work for 400-500 hours before cleaning.

Paper filter element type filter: the paper filter element type filter of Starlight diesel generator is mainly composed of filter element, housing and filter base. The fuel is sent to the fuel filter by the oil transfer pump, and the impurities in the fuel are removed through the paper filter element. The fuel enters the inner cavity of the oil filter cartridge, and then flows to the fuel injection pump through the oil collecting cavity on the filter base.

The filter base is equipped with a return connector and an overflow valve. When the fuel pressure in the fuel filter exceeds 0.08MPa, the excess fuel returns to the fuel tank through the return connector. The low-pressure fuel pipe shall be connected in the direction of the arrow on the seat, and shall not be connected incorrectly.

The sealing washer at the bottom of the filter element is installed in the spring seat, and the spring tightly sticks the sealing washer to the bottom of the nut for sealing. The filter base is connected with the shell by a pull rod, and is sealed by a rubber ring. The upper end of the filter base is provided with a bleed screw, which can be loosened during use to remove the air in the fuel filter.
