It is relatively simple to manufacture. The torque output on the diesel engine shaft is periodic pulsation, so the generator works under the condition of severe vibration.

Therefore, the structural components of the generator, especially the shaft, should have sufficient strength and rigidity to prevent these components from breaking due to vibration. In addition, in order to prevent the uneven rotation angular speed of the generator caused by torque pulsation, causing voltage fluctuation and light flicker, the generator rotor also requires a large rotational inertia, and the difference between the natural torsional vibration frequency of the shafting and the frequency of any alternating component of the torque pulsation of the diesel engine should be more than 20%, so as to avoid resonance and cause shaft breaking accident.
