Before testing a diesel generator set, first check whether the surface of the diesel generator set is clean. Also, check whether the foundation nuts, flywheel screws, and nuts of other moving parts are loose. If any issues are found, tighten them promptly.

When the unit is running at full speed, it is not permitted to change the position of the automatic/manual switch. The test stop position serves as the emergency position. Therefore, when the test is stopped, after the unit runs at idle speed, it shuts down automatically, and the unit then enters the emergency state.

If both the main and auxiliary control panels need to be powered off for installation or maintenance purposes, first set the main control panel to the manual position and then pull the knife switch of the auxiliary control panel. Conversely, when restoring power, first close the knife switch and main switch of the auxiliary control panel, and then set the main control panel to the automatic position.

For the overcurrent protection setting values of the main control panel and the auxiliary control panel, at the time of leaving the factory, the main control panel is set to the rated current value of the generator, while the auxiliary control panel is set to the rated value of the main switch. Thus, after the installation is completed, the settings can be re-adjusted according to the rated value of the unit and the conditions of the power grid.

If the capacity of the diesel generator set's generator cannot meet the power requirements of the load, switches equipped with undervoltage automatic tripping devices can be installed on the power supply branches of unimportant loads. When the mains power fails, the power supply circuit of this branch will be automatically cut off to prevent the auxiliary control panel from tripping due to overload.

When the automatic/manual switch of the main control panel is set to the manual position, the diesel engine, the main control panel, and the auxiliary control panel are all manually operated. If the unit is operating in the automatic state and the switch is moved to the manual position, the unit should be shut down emergently. Additionally, attention should be paid to checking whether all moving parts are secure, whether the cooling water in the cooling system is sufficient, and whether the power of the storage battery is adequate.
