The ambient temperature conditions are crucial for the normal ignition and operation of the generator. All generators, regardless of the fuel used to power them, require sufficient air for combustion, and a decrease in air levels can lead to startup failure. Air and fuel are injected into the diesel engine together, compressed air becomes hot, and when the peak temperature and pressure are reached, diesel is injected and ignited under given conditions.

In high-altitude areas, a decrease in air pressure will reduce air density. If not considered, it may lead to generator start-up issues, as air is crucial for ignition of any type of generator. Another factor affected is the availability of ambient air to promote generator heat dissipation. During the combustion process, a large amount of heat is generated, which needs to be distributed to the environment to lower the engine temperature. In high-altitude areas, due to low air density, the heat dissipation rate is much slower than at sea level, causing the engine to maintain high temperatures for a period of time.

If the diesel generator set is used indoors, we should ensure that it has sufficient fresh air. If the sealing of the computer room is too tight, it will cause poor air circulation, not only affecting the diesel combustion rate of the diesel engine, but also reducing the cooling effect of the unit. The intake cooling, heat of the unit, and the temperature of the computer room will gradually increase, reaching the red warning value, causing malfunctions. Therefore, the computer room usually does not install windows and uses anti-theft nets instead of glass. The height of the windows should not be too high, which will also interfere with the fresh air breathing of the diesel generator set. Some customers do not consider the surrounding environment when using diesel generators outdoors, and only use them blindly.

Under normal circumstances, the ambient temperature for diesel generator sets is -15 ℃ to 40 ℃. If it is not within the normal range, consideration should be given to replacing the accessories of the diesel generator set. For example, when the ambient temperature is below -15 ℃, a water jacket heater should be installed on the diesel generator to ensure that the temperature of the diesel generator water tank is within the normal range, so as to start the generator normally. When the ambient temperature exceeds 40 ℃, it should be considered to replace the water tank of the generator set, as the temperature is -15 ℃~40 ℃. A pure copper water tank above 50 ℃ should be replaced to ensure the normal use of the diesel generator. Do not cause damage to the diesel generator due to this negligence.
