Maintenance and testing

 

When choosing circuit breaker maintenance, users must decide whether to purchase equipment that has undergone UL testing. To ensure overall quality, it is recommended that users purchase circuit breakers for UL testing. For products that have not undergone UL testing, correct calibration cannot be guaranteed. All low-voltage shell type circuit breakers certified by UL are tested according to UL standard 489, which is divided into factory testing and on-site testing.

 

UL Factory Testing: All plastic case circuit breakers have passed extensive product and calibration testing based on UL Standard 489. UL circuit breakers include the factory's sealing calibration system. Completely sealed ensures that the circuit breaker is correctly calibrated and has not been tampered with or altered, and the operation of the product complies with UL standards. If the sealing strip is damaged, UL's warranty and any warranties are invalid.

 

Field testing: It is normal for the data obtained on site to differ from those published. Many users have doubts about whether there are defects in on-site data or whether the information published cannot be synchronized with its specific model. The difference in information is that the testing conditions in the factory are significantly different from those on site. In order to obtain consistent results, this is the purpose of factory testing. Temperature, altitude, climate control environment, and the use of testing equipment specifically designed for testing products can all affect the test results. Repair: Molded case circuit breakers have excellent reliability records in most cases, mainly because they are enclosed. The outer cover minimizes the risk of contact with dirt, moisture, mold, dust, other containers, and damage. A part of proper maintenance is to ensure that all wiring terminals and releases are tightened to the correct torque value set by the manufacturer. After a period of time, these joints will become loose and need to be tightened again. Regular cleaning of circuit breakers is also necessary. Unclean conductors, incorrect use of terminals, and loose terminals can all cause the circuit breaker to overheat and weaken. Manually operated circuit breakers only require clean contact and free operation.
