What is The PMG System of Generator?

What is DSR AVR?

genset generator

DSR is a digital automatic voltage regulator used in Mecc Alter Aterators. This AVR is standard on all Mecc Alte ECO and ECP models. DSR is also compatible with MAUX auxiliary windings and the Ministry of Finance Chief Accountant system.

What is a generator PMG system?

The AC generator with PMG has an automatic voltage regulation, which is powered independently by an independent permanent magnet generator (PMG). Consisting of two parts, PMG rotor and PMG stator. The PMG rotor is installed on the main AC generator rotor shaft, and when the PMG rotor moves the permanent magnet, a voltage is induced in the PMG stator. Then, the power from the PMG stator is used to power the AVR.

Why use a PMG system instead of a standard self-excited generator?

In a standard AC generator, The AVR is powered by the generator terminals. In systems with high inductive loads, transient voltage dips occur before AVR can compensate for stator voltage, AVR will be affected because its input voltage has decreased. This may result in AVR being unable to restore the voltage to its preset value, as the terminal voltage drops too much, making its power supply unavailable.

The advantage of PMG is that the power of AVR remains close to constant, allowing AVR to quickly restore the voltage of the AC generator to its nominal preset value. AVR responds faster, reducing the load applied to the AC generator.

The PMG system also provides the advantage of starting the excitation process without the need for residual magnetism during startup, and for shunting or auxiliary wound motors, if residual magnetism is lost, the generator voltage cannot be established.

What are the drawbacks of PMG?

The PMG system also adds a few kilograms of weight to the AC generator, depending on its size, compared to the transition or auxiliary system. The PMG system is also located on the back of the AC generator shaft, thus increasing its length.

Can you modify PMG? What does PMG look like?

Of course you can! On most AC generators where PMG is a factory option, PMG can also be modified. Installing PMG will increase the length of the AC generator.

Therefore, we will show you the difference between the Stanford HCI544D1 AC generator and PMG. So this is the non drive end of the AC generator and there is no PMG installed. These are simplified assembly instructions that omit key steps to display differences between machines. Before installing PMG, please refer to the complete installation instructions and ensure that you have the correct tools to avoid damaging the AC generator.
