Due to the different speeds of diesel engines, the governor may be in five working conditions. The five working conditions of the governor of the I fuel injection pump are: general working condition, idle working condition, cold start working condition, maximum working speed working condition, and overload working condition. Below, Dingbo Electric will provide a detailed introduction to the differences in these operating conditions.
General operating condition: When the speed control handle is in any position between the two limit screws, the diesel engine will stabilize and operate at a certain speed, and the centrifugal force of the flying ball and the elastic force of the speed control spring will be in a balanced state. If the external load changes at this time and causes a change in speed, the centrifugal force of the flying ball and the elastic force of the speed regulating spring will lose balance, and the governor will automatically adjust the fuel supply to maintain the diesel engine speed within a small range of changes near the original speed.
Idle condition: When the speed control lever is turned to the limit block and collides with the idle limit screw, the speed control spring is relaxed, the preload force is minimized, and the diesel engine stabilizes at the lowest speed. Adjusting the position of the idle limit screw can change the minimum stable speed. When screwed in, the speed increases, otherwise it decreases. When adjusting, it is best to achieve a low and stable operation of the diesel engine.
Cold start condition: During the cold start of a diesel engine, the low pressure and temperature of the gas in the cylinder at the end of compression are not conducive to fuel evaporation and mixture formation. Therefore, it is required that the fuel injection pump supply more diesel than normal (known as starting enrichment) in order to ensure a certain mixture composition.
The starting enrichment function of the governor of the I fuel injection pump is achieved by the starting pin. When the diesel engine stops, the starting pin pulls the fuel supply rod to the leftmost end, and the fuel supply reaches a large value. When starting a diesel engine, due to the low speed, the centrifugal force of the flying ball is very small, which is not enough to overcome the tension of the starting spring, resulting in a large amount of starting oil. After the diesel engine is started, the speed rapidly increases, and the centrifugal force of the flying ball is greater than the pulling force of the starting spring, causing the fuel supply rod to move to the right and reduce the fuel supply. When starting to increase the fuel supply, it stops working.
Maximum working speed condition: When the limit block of the speed control handle collides with the high-speed limit screw, the speed control spring is subjected to maximum compression and the preload force is maximum, and the diesel engine operates at the highest speed condition. If the external load decreases and the speed increases at this time, the centrifugal force of the flying ball will cause the fuel supply rod to move in the direction of reducing the fuel supply, so that the output torque of the diesel engine is balanced with the load. If all the load is removed, the governor will minimize the fuel supply and the diesel engine will operate at its highest idle speed. A diesel engine equipped with a speed controller has a small difference between the maximum idle speed and the maximum working speed, generally around 100-200r/min, which plays a role in preventing the danger of "runaway" caused by overspeed operation of the diesel engine.
