This article continues to introduce the 5 major operating conditions of the governor of diesel engine I fuel injection pump.
Overload condition: Diesel engines used in construction machinery, automobiles, and tractors often encounter sudden increases in short-term resistance during operation. If the diesel engine is already operating at full load and the fuel supply has reached its maximum, in the event of overload, the engine speed will rapidly decrease and stall. In order to improve the ability of diesel engines to overcome short-term overload, calibration devices are often installed in the full range governor. The calibration device can increase the fuel supply of the diesel engine by about 15% to 20% when overloaded. Excessive increase in fuel supply will result in black smoke due to incomplete combustion, leading to performance deterioration and increased carbon deposition, therefore it is not allowed.
When there is no calibration device, when the diesel engine is overloaded and the speed drops below the calibration speed, the axial component force Fa of the centrifugal force of the flying ball Less than the elastic force Fe of the speed regulating spring, the sliding sleeve is compressed on the shoulder of the oil limit screw and cannot continue to move left, and the oil supply cannot be increased any further.
When there is a calibration device, the diesel engine is under moderate load. At this point, the correction spring is in a free state and there is still a gap between it and the sliding sleeve.
The condition of a diesel engine operating under calibration conditions. At the beginning of contact between the sliding sleeve and the calibration spring, the gap disappears, while there is still a gap between the sliding sleeve and the shoulder of the oil limit screw. At this time, the oil supply rod is in the calibrated oil level position.
The situation where the diesel engine is operating at overload. Due to the decrease in crankshaft speed, the axial component Fa of the centrifugal force of the flying ball decreases. The elastic force of the speed regulating spring Fe is greater than Fa, forcing the sliding sleeve to move left and begin compressing the correction spring. The fuel supply rod also moves slightly in the direction of increasing the fuel supply to overcome overload. When the sliding sleeve collides with the shoulder of the oil limit screw, the calibrated oil level reaches its maximum. At this point, the sum of the elastic force F of the correction spring and the axial component force Fa of the flying ball is balanced with Fe.
The distance that the fuel supply rod moves from the compression of the correction spring starting from the sliding sleeve until it collides with the shoulder is called the correction stroke. The maximum calibration stroke of the governor of the I fuel injection pump is 1.2-1.5mm.
Shutdown: Due to the fuel injection pump equipped with a full range governor, the operator can only manipulate the preload force of the governor spring and cannot directly control the fuel supply rod. Therefore, when an emergency shutdown is required, there must be a specialized mechanism to stop the fuel supply. The governor of the I fuel injection pump is equipped with an emergency stop handle for use during emergency shutdown. Pulling the emergency stop lever can move the fuel supply lever to the rightmost end, causing the fuel injection pump to stop supplying fuel and turn off the diesel engine.
