Common Problems and Solutions of Industrial Diesel Power Generation 2

Mar. 12, 2024

This article continues to introduce common problems and solutions of industrial diesel generators. If you have any problems, please contact Dingbo Power Generation Equipment.

Not automatically controlled

This is an industrial diesel generator. This device controls the installation, operation, and shutdown of industrial diesel generators in all aspects. Can display information on all key engines and AC generators, and display any "faults" that cause generator shutdown. 99% of generator control service calls that are "non automatic" are a direct result of human error.

One obvious reason is that the main switch has been placed in the "shutdown/reset" position. The control valve can have several positions, such as "shutdown/reset" and "cooling", which can cause industrial diesel generators to fail to start during power outages. The above location should issue an alarm.

Alarm not reset, circuit breaker open, switch not reset, emergency stop button activated are all non automatic faults. Several generators were installed during emergency shutdown, causing the main circuit breaker to open. If the industrial diesel generator automatically shuts down (for any reason), it is necessary to manually readjust the control panel to clear the alarm.

Fuel backflow to fuel tank/generator unable to start

For new engines that are not frequently used, this is a common problem. In order to meet today's emission requirements, the internal tolerance of the fuel system is relatively small, making it more susceptible to the influence of air that affects the generator's starting ability. This phenomenon is not common in old generators. An old-fashioned industrial diesel generator may experience leakage from pipelines or check valves when encountering this problem, and these leaks may not function properly inside the engine.

Engine fuel shortage

Mechanical fuel level gauges are not always accurate. Unlike cars that move and use larger fuel tanks, the generator fuel tank cannot be moved, which can cause fuel stagnation. Mechanical instruments can also be fixed in place until vibration causes them to detach. Some industrial diesel generators are equipped with "low fuel level parking" or "critical fuel level parking". The control panel will shut down the generator when the fuel is running out to prevent the fuel system from inhaling air.

Trips that are not closely related to circuit breakers and generators

The phone number for this service is usually "power outage, generator cannot start". The first step is to confirm that no one accidentally pressed the remote emergency power off switch.

When powering off, check the status of the automatic transfer switch. ATS should have some kind of light or display to display the switch position and the availability of signal sources. If you do not understand the correct operation, please do not attempt to manually operate the automatic transfer switch. The above are some common problems and solutions of diesel generators explained by Dingbo Electric. If you have any questions about diesel generators, please contact Dingbo Electric immediately.
