Contents Of Parts Inspection Of Diesel Generator Set

The inspection work in the maintenance process of diesel generator sets covers a wide range of contents, and to a large extent, it is the main basis for formulating maintenance process measures. It is an important work to decide the discard of parts, the assembly quality and the maintenance cost.

Main contents of inspection:

(1) Geometric accuracy of parts: including the accuracy of size, shape and surface mutual position of parts. Usually, the inspection items are size, cylindricity, roundness, flatness, straightness, coaxiality, parallelism, perpendicularity, runout, etc. According to the maintenance characteristics, sometimes it is not to pursue the geometric dimension of a single part, but to require the relative fitting accuracy.

(2) Part surface quality: including the roughness of the part surface and whether the part surface has defects such as scratch, corrosion, crack, peeling, burning and roughening.

(3) Physical and mechanical properties of parts: in addition to the hardness of parts and the depth of hardened layer, the properties formed during the manufacturing and repair of parts, such as stress state, balance state, elasticity, stiffness, vibration, etc., also need to be properly tested according to the situation.

(4) Concealed defects of parts: including defects such as internal slag inclusion, air hole, porosity, cavity, weld, etc. in the manufacturing process, as well as micro-cracks generated in the use process.

(5) Quality and static and dynamic balance of parts and components: such as poor quality between piston and connecting rod group. The crankshaft, fan, transmission shaft, flywheel and other high-speed rotating parts shall be statically and dynamically balanced.

(6) Material properties of parts: such as alloy composition of parts, carbon content of carburized layer, uniformity of materials of all parts, precipitation of graphite in cast iron, aging and deterioration degree of rubber materials, etc.

(7) The bonding strength between the surface material of the part and the base

metal: such as the bonding strength between the electroplated coating, spray coating, surfacing layer and the base metal, the bonding strength of the mechanical fixed connector, the bonding strength of the bearing alloy and the bearing seat, etc.

(8) Matching condition of components: such as coaxiality, parallelism, meshing and tightness of the components.

(9) Wear degree of parts: correctly identify the feasibility of friction and wear parts, and determine whether they can continue to be used according to the wear limit.

(10) Tightness: for example, the cylinder block and cylinder head of internal combustion engine need to be sealed to check for leakage.
