Fault Analysis of Low Pressure Oil Circuit in Diesel Generator Set

The diesel generator oil supply system mainly includes two parts: low-pressure oil circuit and high-pressure oil circuit. Generally speaking, under normal use, the failure rate of low-pressure oil circuits is relatively high. When the low-pressure oil circuit is blocked or mixed with air, it can cause insufficient power or shutdown of the diesel generator. When searching for faults, the first step is to check if the fuel tank is out of fuel. If there is no shortage of oil, loosen the vent screw of the fuel injection pump, pump the oil with a hand pump, and observe the vent screw while pumping the oil. If there are bubbles or oil droplets emerging, it indicates that there is air intake in the section of the oil pipeline from the fuel pump to the oil tank. The pipeline from the fuel pump to the oil tank should be checked for cracks and the gasket of the oil pipe joint should be checked for damage.

If there are no bubbles or oil bubbles emerging, there may be blockage. You should first tighten the vent screw and continue to pump oil with a hand pump. The location of the blockage should be determined by the feeling of the hand when pumping oil. When lifting the handle of the hand oil pump, it feels laborious and there is suction, indicating that the blockage is in the section from the oil inlet of the oil pump to the oil tank. When checking, first unscrew the hollow screw at the oil inlet of the fuel transfer pump to see if there is a fuel filter inside. If there is, it may be blocked due to excessive dirt. In this case, only clean it thoroughly.

If not, the blockage is located at the inlet of the diesel generator oil tank, and the tank can be cleaned. When lifting the handle of the hand oil pump, it is normal, but when pressing down too hard, the blockage is located in the fuel filter. The filter element can be removed for cleaning or replacement.
