Phenomenon

1. The main switch, excitation switch, and auxiliary branch switch of the generator trip.

2. The system frequency decreases and the voltage is abnormal.

3. Corresponding signals appear on the control screen and generator transformer protection device.

Processing

1. Check the automatic operation and load condition of the high voltage backup transformer in the factory.

2. Confirm the tripping of the switch, and check and record the status of each protection action to determine the nature and scope of the fault.

3. To determine whether personnel misoperation, protection misoperation, or secondary circuit operation caused tripping, internal inspection may not be carried out and a new parallel connection may be made.

4. If there is an internal fault in the generator set, the main protection action should trip the various switches and excitation switches of the generator set. If the tripped switch refuses to operate, it should be manually opened immediately.

5. Open the corresponding switch and take safety measures, measure the insulation of the generator set, conduct a comprehensive inspection, and keep records. The generator set shall not be integrated into the system without the consent of the chief engineer.

6. If non full phase occurs when the main switch trips, the switch failure protection will activate and cut off the fault. If the failure protection does not operate, the busbar switch and all switches connected to the same busbar as the generator unit should be immediately opened.

7. After removing the fault, restore the normal operation mode of the 220kV substation.
