(3) Currently, the diesel engine speed regulation systems are represented by the Cummins PT pump fuel supply system and the Bosch high - pressure pump fuel supply system. Commonly used speed regulation systems include the EFC speed - regulating board and ACT electronic actuator, GAC speed - regulating board and electronic actuator, BARBERCOLMAN speed - regulating board and electronic actuator (the grounding wire is the same as that of EFC). The DC resistance of the ACT electronic actuator is about 8 Ω, the DC resistance of the GAC electronic actuator is nearly 16 Ω, and the DC resistance of the BARBERCOLMAN actuator is nearly 2 Ω. At no - load, the voltage output from the electronic speed - regulating board to the actuator is about 6 - 8 VDC.
The MPU is a speed - measuring magnetic head with a DC resistance between 50 - 300 Ω. The speed - regulating board can work only when its induced voltage is > 1.5 VAC. Its installation method is to screw it clockwise to the end, then turn it back 3/4 - 1 turn, and then fix the screw.
“Idle” is the idle - speed adjustment potentiometer. When terminals 7 and 10 of the speed - regulating board are short - circuited, the speed - regulating board operates in the idle - speed mode; “RUN” or “speed” is the speed adjustment potentiometer, which is used to set the generator speed. “GAIN” is the gain, which reflects the response speed. Increasing it will stabilize the frequency, but excessive gain will cause the body to vibrate. “Droop” is the speed drop. The larger it is adjusted, the greater the speed drop under load will be. The above four potentiometers are adjusted larger clockwise and smaller counter - clockwise. Short - circuiting A and B will reduce the gain.
1. GAC Speed - Regulating Board
1.The GAC speed - regulating board has several models such as ESD5111 and ESD5220. The wiring methods and principles are roughly the same.
Speed: Used for speed setting.
Stability: Used to adjust the stability.
GAIN: Used to adjust the response speed.
Droop: Used to adjust the speed drop (K and L must be short - circuited to achieve this function).
idle: Used to adjust the idle - speed setting (G and M must be short - circuited to achieve this function).
GAIN: Used to adjust the response speed.
DROOP: Used to adjust the idle - speed setting (K and L must be short - circuited to achieve this function).
2.Initial Adjustment of the GAC Governor
Start the unit, adjust the “speed” potentiometer to the rated speed (50 Hz). Adjust the “GAIN” potentiometer clockwise until the unit vibrates, then turn it back to the non - vibrating state and then turn it counter - clockwise by 1/8 turn. Adjust the “STABILITY” potentiometer clockwise until the unit vibrates, then turn it counter - clockwise back to the non - vibrating state and turn it back an additional 1/8 turn. The adjustment is completed. If the unit still vibrates under load, slightly reduce the “GAIN” until it stops vibrating.
(3) Common Faults and Troubleshooting of the Speed Regulation System
1. Unstable Frequency
a) The bearing of the electronic actuator is defective or the pull rod is inflexible, and the wire connection is loose.
b) The gain of the speed - regulating board is too small, and the response is too slow.
c) There is a problem with the speed - measuring magnetic head or the wire connection is loose.
d) There is interference on the ground wire, and the speed - regulating board is damaged.
e) There is a diesel engine fault (air in the oil circuit).
2. Overspeed
a) The MPU speed - measuring magnetic head is damaged or the wiring is loose.
b) The electronic actuator is stuck.
c) The speed - regulating board is damaged.
d) There is a diesel engine fault (air in the oil circuit or blocked return oil).
