Maintenance of Fuel System for Diesel Generator Set

The main components of the fuel system have high precision and are prone to malfunctions during operation. The quality of the diesel engine fuel system will directly affect the power and economy of the diesel engine. Therefore, doing a good job in maintenance and upkeep is an important link to extend the service life of the main components of the fuel system, reduce the failure rate, and ensure the normal operation of the diesel engine.

Proper use and maintenance of the fuel system are key to ensuring the normal operation of diesel engines. Diesel cleaning is the most fundamental issue in the use and maintenance of fuel systems.

(1) Fuel tank usage and maintenance. The fuel tank should be filled with fuel regularly, and the filter of the fuel inlet should be cleaned regularly. The ventilation hole of the fuel filling port should be kept clean and unobstructed to prevent the formation of vacuum in the fuel tank and insufficient fuel supply. The interior of the fuel tank should be cleaned regularly, and the oil drain and lift valve at the bottom of the tank should be opened regularly to discharge sediment and water.

(2) Cleaning of fuel filter. During the use of the Chaishan engine, impurities and dirt in the diesel fuel accumulate on the surface of the filter element and deposit at the bottom of the housing. If not removed in a timely manner, it can cause the filter element to become clogged. Therefore, the fuel filter should be cleaned regularly according to the instructions during the use of the diesel engine.

(3) Maintenance of fuel injection pump. During the use of a diesel engine, the lubricating oil level in the fuel injection pump should be checked regularly according to the instructions, and the lubricating oil should be replaced regularly to ensure normal lubrication.

(4) The speed controllers have been factory tested and adjusted, with lead seals that cannot be easily disassembled. The governor should regularly check the amount of lubricating oil and replenish or replace it in a timely manner. There is an oil level check plug (or oil dipstick) on the governor housing, and the governor should regularly maintain an oil level that meets the requirements of the instruction manual.

(5) Fuel injector malfunction inspection and adjustment. After the fuel injector malfunctions, the following abnormal phenomena usually occur:

① The exhaust is emitting smoke.

② Uneven power distribution among cylinders leads to abnormal vibrations.

③ The power has decreased.

To identify the malfunctioning fuel injector, the following method can be used for inspection:; Firstly, run the diesel engine at low speed, then stop the fuel injectors of each cylinder in sequence, and pay attention to the changes in the working condition of the diesel engine. When the fuel injector of a certain cylinder stops working,

If the exhaust no longer emits black smoke and the diesel engine speed changes very little or does not change, it indicates that the cylinder injector has malfunctioned; If the diesel engine becomes unstable and the speed drops significantly, to the point where it is about to shut down, then the cylinder injector is working normally.

The fuel injector can be calibrated If the following situations occur during the test inspection, it indicates that there is a malfunction in the fuel injector.

① The fuel injection pressure is lower than the specified value.

② The fuel injection does not atomize, forming a clear continuous flow of oil.

③ Multi hole fuel injector, with uneven fuel bundles and varying lengths in each hole.

④ The fuel injector drips oil

⑤ The nozzle is blocked, preventing oil from flowing out or spraying in a tree like pattern. If the above problems are found, they should be repaired or replaced.
