The fan is an important part of the cooling system of a diesel generator set, usually installed behind the radiator core. Its main function is to increase the flow rate of air passing through the radiator core, improve the heat dissipation capacity of the radiator. The fan of a water cooling system requires sufficient air volume, moderate air pressure, low power consumption, high efficiency, low noise, and simple process. Axial flow fans are commonly used in water cooling systems, which have a simple structure, easy layout, and high air volume and efficiency at low pressure heads.
The air volume of diesel generator set fans is mainly related to the fan diameter, speed, blade shape, blade installation angle, and number of blades. In some diesel generator sets, the stamped blade ends of the cooling fan are bent to increase the fan air volume. The blades should be installed at an inclination angle of 30-60 degrees with the fan rotation plane. The number of blades is usually 4 or 6, and some make the angle between the blades unequal to reduce the vibration and noise generated during rotation. A protective ring is installed around the fan to improve its working efficiency. For users, it is important to pay attention to checking these three issues with the cooling fan in daily life, in order to promptly detect any abnormal fan phenomena and solve potential unit malfunctions.
1. Pay attention to checking whether the fan has cracks, whether the screws or blades are loose, etc. If there are cracks, please contact the maintenance personnel for replacement or welding repair in a timely manner. During welding repair, attention should be paid to ensuring that the welding is firmly fixed; If there is looseness in the screws or blades, they can be repaired by re riveting the blades to ensure that the fan is installed firmly and reliably.
2. After repairing the fan, a static balance test must be conducted to ensure smooth operation of the fan. The method is:
Fix the impeller (blades and frame) on the dedicated shaft and place it on the blade iron for inspection (as shown in the figure). During inspection, gently move the blades by hand to rotate the impeller with shaft on the blade iron. After the automatic stop, mark the impeller located at the bottom. Repeat this several times. If the same blade is located at the lower position each time, it means that the blade is heavier than other blades. You can use a grinding wheel to remove a small amount of metal from its end face or rear side to achieve static balance. The quality difference of fan blades generally does not exceed 5-10g. When the impeller with a shaft rotates on the blade iron, if any blade stops at the lower position each time, it indicates that the fan blades have reached the static balance requirement.
3. Some users may feel that the cooling fan of a diesel generator set is shaped like an electric fan at home, but there is a difference between the two. Most of the fan blades of a diesel generator set are made of thin steel plates by stamping, or they can be made of plastic or aluminum alloy as integral fans with wing shaped sections. Dingbo Electric reminds you: do not pry or pry it with anything, and do not use the fan to rotate the diesel engine crankshaft, otherwise it will cause very serious injury incidents!
