After ensuring that the amount of coolant meets the regulations, the machine was turned on and checked with load. It was found that there were no external leaks in the cooling system and there were no obvious abnormalities in smoke exhaust. After disassembling the two thermostats of the Volvo generator set for testing, the thermostat of the generating set was placed in a water container with a thermometer, and then slowly heated to the opening temperature of the thermostat. It was found that the thermostat on the right side of the generator set could not be opened normally.
The Volvo generating set has two thermostats. When the temperature is low, both thermostats are in a closed state, that is, the main valve is closed, while the auxiliary valve is open, and the coolant flows to the bypass channel for small circulation. When the temperature reaches the opening temperature of the main valve of the thermostat, the two thermostats start to open, in the middle state. At this time, both the main and auxiliary valves are open, and some of the coolant flows to the radiator When the temperature reaches the fully open temperature of the main valve of the thermostat, the two main valves of the thermostat are fully open, while the auxiliary valves are fully closed. All the coolant flows to the radiator for a large circulation. At this time, the auxiliary valve of the left thermostat will close the bypass channel. It can be seen that the thermostat on the right side of the two thermostats in the Volvo genset cannot be opened normally, which will reduce the water flow rate of the large circulation and cause the water temperature to be too high after being loaded. Due to the fact that the large cycle can still be partially carried out, the water temperature is normal during no-load operation.
The methods to check whether the thermostat of Volvo generating set works normally are as follows: put the thermostat of the generator set into a water container with a thermometer. Slowly heat to the opening temperature of the thermostat, hold for 5 minutes, and check if the thermostat of the unit is turned on. Continue heating until the water temperature reaches the fully open temperature of the thermostat valve, hold for 5 minutes, and measure the lift of the thermostat. In addition, when the temperature drops, check whether the thermostat valve of the generator set is tightly against the valve seat. If there is any defect in the above inspection, the generator set thermostat should be replaced. After replacing the unit thermostat, the fault should be eliminated.
