Remote Monitoring Function of Deep Sea Electronic Controller

The Deep Sea Electronic Controller (DSE) provides a range of support and monitoring functions for your diesel generator. Below is a summary of the more common features, how they work, and the hardware you need.

DSE Webnet is an online portal for monitoring generators. This enables remote monitoring of any number of units from your phone or online. For this, you need a DSE 890 (4G connection), 4G data SIM card, or DSE 891 (Ethernet only).

Building Management System (BMS) for Generators

Building management systems are used for large and complex buildings to monitor and control building services. Most large buildings equipped with generators wish to connect their building management systems to diesel generators.

Usually, this is done through the RS485 port. DSE 7320 has an RS485 port as standard.

Connect the generator to the PC using TCP/IP via Ethernet

If you have generators onsite or remotely, you can monitor them using TCP/IP (via your LAN or Internet). For this, you need an Ethernet port. DSE 7320 does not have a standard Ethernet port, but you can use expansion modules such as DSE 855 to add this feature. For example, DSE 7420 and DSE 8610 have Ethernet ports as standards, but using DSE 855 is often more cost-effective.

Local and remote control of the generator

For remote control of local generators, use the DSE configuration kit software that connects directly to the module via USB. You don't need any additional hardware, but due to USB standards, you are limited to a distance of approximately 10 meters. For a longer range, please use one of the above solutions, namely TCP/IP or DSE Webnet over the Ethernet.

The second option is to use an analog module. The simulation module is the second module, connected through RS485, to simulate the DSE controller on the therapeutic device. RS485 supports up to 2 kilometers of data connection, making it very suitable for larger locations and places that want to monitor generators from the control room. However, DSE Webnet is the preferred choice, but in some cases, simulation modules are still a good choice.

GSM SMS notification/remote control

To achieve remote control through GSM and/or SMS, you need an RS232 modem that is connected to the RS232 port on the control module. We need to configure an RS232 modem and also need a data Sim card. This is an older solution and is no longer recommended. Please use DSE Webnet instead.
