Technical Progress of Diesel Generator Sets and Diesel Engines 1

Overview of diesel engines

 

Perhaps the most significant modern advancement is that diesel engine technology has and will continue to improve fuel economy. As usual, gas engines have been adopted more widely by the public. Due to the constant replacement of fuel economy, diesel is often overshadowed by traditional gasoline usage. Speaking of which, diesel engines have found a stable user base in various industries, especially those that want to save fuel for high-capacity transportation, backup power, and large-scale agricultural production.

 

In recent decades, we have made some efforts and achieved success in improving the overall efficiency of diesel engines. Most of these improvements involve, to some extent, the power ignition generated by the mixture of oxygen and fuel in the engine. These mixtures ultimately generate the energy required for a combustion engine.

 

On the contrary, gasoline engines use spark plugs for ignition. There are no spark plugs in diesel fuel. In fact, the entire ignition process is directly implemented to support oxygen entering the combustion chamber. Then, oxygen is compressed and heated to above 538 ℃. After fuel is injected into the precombustion chamber, the heat generated in the fuel quickly ignites the fuel, causing the air in the combustion chamber to expand and the piston to naturally move inward. Power drives the crankshaft forward. The pre combustion chamber also releases a small amount of fuel, allowing the engine to continue operating. The more evenly the liquid droplets are used, the higher the fuel economy and overall efficiency of the engine.

Diesel engine modification

 

To some extent, modifications have been made to the diesel engine, including modifications that directly affect the combustion chamber. Especially in recent years, in order to achieve maximum engine power, improvements have been made to the pre chamber and combustion chamber to achieve turbocharging effects. Based on these developments, digital interfaces have replaced traditional analog controls. CNC provides higher fuel injection accuracy and timing, reducing exhaust emissions. In addition, there are other modern technological achievements being used to promote the transition to low emission technologies, such as selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and exhaust gas recovery (EGR).

 

Recently, greater improvements have been made in the combustion chamber of diesel engines, including changing the optimal combustion rate, ultimately resulting in lower fuel emissions and improved fuel economy.

 

The sound of internal combustion engines has also been improved, including changing the attenuation of sound to reduce engine noise, which later became synonymous. This type of modification includes installing noise bags made of ceramics and other sound-absorbing materials in pre installed rooms.
