The Characteristics of Diesel Generator Gear Oil Pump

The function of the diesel generator oil pump is to increase the oil pressure to a certain level and force it to the moving surfaces of various parts of the engine. The structural forms of oil pumps can be divided into two types: gear type and rotor type. Gear type oil pumps are divided into internal gear type and external gear type, and the latter is generally referred to as gear type oil pumps.

The structure and working principle of a diesel generator (as shown in the diagram): The gear type oil pump consists of a driving shaft, a driving gear, a driven shaft, a driven gear, a housing, etc. Two gears with the same number of teeth mesh with each other and are installed inside the housing. The radial and end face clearance between the gears and the housing is very small. The driving shaft is connected to the driving gear with a key, and the driven gear is sleeved on the driving shaft. When the oil pump is working, the driving gear drives the driven gear to rotate in the opposite direction. When the two gears rotate, the oil filled between the gear teeth is carried from the inlet chamber to the outlet chamber along the wall of the oil pump housing. On the side of the inlet chamber, a vacuum is generated due to the detachment and bite of the gear, as well as the continuous extraction of the oil. The oil in the oil pan enters the inlet chamber through the filter under atmospheric pressure. On the side of the outlet chamber, due to the gear entering the gear and the continuous introduction of the oil, a squeezing effect is generated, and the oil is pumped out at a certain pressure.


Key points for maintenance of diesel generator gear oil pump


1. Inspection of the clearance between the gear and the pump body hole. As shown in the figure, place the outer gear against one side of the pump body hole and check its radial clearance with a feeler gauge. The standard value for fit clearance is generally 0.12-0.20mm, with a limit value of 0.3mm.


2. Inspection of the clearance between the gear end face and the pump body plane. Perform the detection according to the method shown in the diagram. The standard value of axial clearance is generally 0.045-0.12mm, with a limit value of 0.17mm.


3. Measurement of meshing clearance. The meshing clearance between the main and driven gears of the gear type oil pump is 0.020-0.054mm. Measure the meshing clearance between the main and driven gears of the oil pump using a feeler gauge.
