What Needs To Be Done To Seal The Diesel Generator After Shutdown

1. Short term shutdown and storage (1-3 months).

Before sealing:

(1) Clean the diesel engine surface, check that there is no visible dirt, oil stain, rust, water stain, etc., and then dry it with compressed air. Use a brush to evenly apply antirust oil to the machined surfaces of all diesel engine metal surfaces. Note that the surfaces of rubber parts, plastic parts and fiber fabric parts are not allowed to be coated with antirust oil or contact with antirust oil.

(2) Disconnect the battery connecting wire, clean the terminal, apply a thin layer of grease to charge the battery.

(3) Slack the drive belt.

(4) All exposed air pipes, water pipes or oil pipe orifices shall be sealed or wrapped with moisture-proof paper or vapor phase rust proof paper or polyethylene plastic film tape, and the entire air filter shall also be sealed or wrapped with moisture-proof paper.

(5) Cover the diesel engine with a plastic cover or similar. Place the diesel engine in a well ventilated, dry and shady room.

Saving period:

Charge the battery every month. The electrolyte level of non maintenance free batteries needs to be checked. If necessary, add special liquid supplement or distilled water, and then charge. Turn the crankshaft 3-4 times a month with the turning tool.

Use after unpacking:

When starting, remove the fuel injection pump and send it to the service station designated by the diesel company for adjustment. Remove the covering and wrapping, and connect the pipeline. Install the fuel injection pump and bleed the fuel system. Connect the battery cable and tension the drive belt. Check the lubricating oil level and coolant level, and add an appropriate amount of clean oil that meets the requirements at the supercharger oil inlet. Use the turning tool to turn the crankshaft for 3-5 revolutions. The diesel engine shall be started with correct methods.

2. Long term shutdown for storage (more than 3 months).

Before sealing:

(1) After the last use of the diesel engine, drain the diesel engine lubricating oil in the hot state, including the oil in the oil filter. As the coolant has rust prevention function, it is unnecessary to drain and add qualified sealing oil of specified capacity into the crankcase. Start the diesel engine to idle speed, stop the engine after running for 1~1.5min, and then drain the sealing oil from the oil pan. The internal seal oil of the diesel engine is the dehydrated CF grade 15W/40 lubricating oil.

(2) Hang a label on the diesel engine, which indicates that the diesel engine has no engine oil and should not be used.

Saving period:

Use the turning tool to turn the crankshaft for 3-5 revolutions. If the shelf life exceeds 2 years, replace the coolant and clean the cooling system. The rubber hoses on the diesel engine may be aged due to long storage time. All rubber hoses need to be checked before use. In case of cracks and aging, they must be replaced.
