The water tank of diesel generator sets plays a great important role in the whole generating set. If the water tank is not used properly, the diesel engine and generator will be damaged and the diesel engine will be scrapped seriously. Soft water usually has rain water, snow and river water, etc. These water contains little minerals and is suitable for engine use. But the mineral content in well water, spring water and tap water is high. These minerals are easily deposited on the water tank wall, water jacket and waterway wall to form scale and corrosion, which make the engine heat dissipation ability become worse, and cause the engine to overheat easily. The added water must be clean, and the impurity in the water will clog the waterway and aggravate the wear of the water pump impeller and other parts. If hard water is used, it must be softened beforehand, usually by heating and adding lye (commonly used caustic soda).
After adding antifreeze to the tank, if the level of the tank is found to be lower, without leakage, only clean soft water (distilled water is better) should be added, because the boiling point of the commonly used ethylene glycol antifreeze is high. Evaporates the moisture in the antifreeze, does not need to supplement the antifreeze, only needs to add the soft water to be possible. What is worth mentioning is that users should not add the hard water that does not soften.
In order to start the generator set conveniently in winter or because of the distance of water source, some users often adopt the method of starting first and adding water later. In fact, this method is very harmful to the genset. After dry start of engine, as there is no cooling water in the engine block, all parts of the engine are heated rapidly, especially the temperature of the water jacket outside the injector of the cylinder head and diesel engine is especially high. If cooling water is added again at this time, Cylinder head and water jacket are prone to crack or deformation due to sudden cooling. When the engine temperature is too high, the engine load should be unloaded first and then idling at low speed, and then cooling water should be added when the water temperature is normal.
It is not advocated to change the cooling water regularly because the mineral has been precipitated after a period of use. Unless the water is very dirty, it may clog the pipeline and the radiator and do not replace it easily, because even the newly replaced cooling water is softened, but it also contains a certain mineral, which will be deposited in the water jacket and so on. And the formation of scale, the more frequent change of water, the more minerals, the more the mineral, the thicker the thicker, so should replace the cooling water regularly according to the actual situation. In the replacement, the cooling line should be cleaned, the cleaning solution can be made of caustic soda, kerosene and water. Meanwhile, the water switch is maintained, and the damaged switch is replaced in time before winter, and it can not be used for snail. A replacement for a bolt, a stick, a broken cloth, etc.
If the lid of the tank is not opened during discharge, the cooling water may flow out of part, but with the decrease of the amount of water in the radiator, the airtight water tank will produce a certain degree of vacuum, which will slow down or stop the flow of water. In winter, the machine parts are frozen because of the dirty water.
When the water tank is "open", do not blindly open the lid of the tank in order to prevent the scald. The correct way is: first idle and then extinguish the generator, the temperature of the generator will be reduced, the water tank pressure drops again, then the tank cover is unscrewed again. The head is looking down at the water tank. After the screw is turned off, the hand is quickly removed. When the hot gas and steam are not heated, the lid of the water tank is removed and the scald is strictly protected.
In the cold winter, the generator is difficult to start. If cold water is injected before starting, it will be easy to freeze in the water tank and intake pipe during the process of adding water or when the water is not started in time, resulting in the water being unable to circulate. It even cracks the tank. By adding hot water, the engine temperature can be increased and the freezing phenomenon can be avoided.
In the cold winter, the engine should be started for a few minutes after cooling water is released. This is mainly due to the fact that some water may remain in the water pump and other parts after the release of water, and when it starts again, Depending on the body temperature, the residual water in the pump and other places can be dried to ensure that there is no water in the engine, the antifreeze is added in time, the coolant is discharged, and the phenomenon of water leakage caused by the freezing of the pump and the tear of the water seal is prevented.
Before engine flameout, if the engine temperature is very high, do not stop immediately to release water, should first unload the load, make it idle speed operation, wait for the water temperature to drop to 40-50 ℃ before discharging water, prevent water contact cylinder block, cylinder head, The temperature of the outer surface of the water jacket drops suddenly and shrinks sharply because of the sudden release of water. However, the temperature inside the cylinder block is still very high and the shrinkage is small. It is easy to make the cylinder block and the cylinder head crack because the temperature difference between the inside and outside is too large.
At present, the quality of antifreeze on the market is uneven, many are substandard. If the antifreeze does not contain preservatives, it will corrode the engine cylinder head, water jacket, radiator, water coil, rubber parts and other parts seriously. At the same time, a large amount of scale will be produced, which will cause poor heat dissipation of the engine and cause the engine to overheat malfunction. Therefore, must choose the regular manufacturer's product.
Whether it is common antifreeze or long acting antifreeze, it should be released in time when the temperature becomes higher, so as to prevent the corrosion of machine parts. Because the preservatives added to the antifreeze will gradually decrease or fail with the prolongation of the use time, and some even have no preservatives at all, this will have a very strong corrosion effect on the parts of the machine. Therefore, antifreeze should be released in time according to the temperature, and the cooling pipe should be cleaned thoroughly after releasing the antifreeze.
