The function of diesel generator set coolant is to dissipate a large amount of heat generated during unit operation, in order to ensure the normal use of the unit. So how to use diesel generator set coolant? What details do you need to pay attention to? This article is briefly introduced by Guangxi Dingbo Generator Set Manufacturing Co.,Ltd., a professional generator manufacturer.
1. Choose clean soft water
Soft water usually includes rainwater, snow water, and river water, which contain few minerals and are suitable for use in diesel engines. The mineral content in well water, spring water, and tap water is high, and these minerals are prone to deposit on the radiator wall, water jacket, and water channel wall when heated, forming scale and rust, which reduces the heat dissipation ability of the generator set and easily leads to overheating of the engine. The added water must be clean, as impurities in the water can clog waterways and exacerbate the wear of components such as water pump impellers. If hard water is used, softening treatment must be carried out in advance. The softening methods usually include heating and adding alkaline solution (commonly used caustic soda).
2. Do not start without cooling water
Some users often adopt the method of starting first and then adding water because there is no water source or the water source is far away, which is very harmful. After the dry start of the generator set, due to the lack of cooling water in the engine body, various components of the unit engine quickly heat up, especially the temperature at the water jacket outside the cylinder head and diesel engine injector is particularly high. If cooling water is added at this time, the cylinder head and water jacket are prone to cracking or deformation due to sudden cooling.
3. Do not discharge water from the generator set at high temperatures
When the diesel generator operates for a long time and the temperature difference between the unit and the external environment is too large, when cooling water needs to be discharged, it should be discharged 15 to 30 minutes after the shutdown, and when the water temperature drops. It is not meant to be discharged immediately after the shutdown. Otherwise, due to the large temperature difference between the body and the external environment, some components of the diesel generator will deform, thereby affecting the performance of the diesel engine.
4. When "boiling", prevent burns
After the diesel generator radiator "boiling", do not blindly open the water tank cover to prevent burns. The correct approach is to idle for a while before turning off the generator. Wait for the temperature of the diesel generator set to decrease and the pressure of the water tank to decrease before unscrewing the radiator cover. When unscrewing, cover the tank cover with a towel or car cloth to prevent hot water and steam from spraying onto your face or body. Do not look down at the water tank with your head. After unscrewing, quickly remove your hand and wait until there is no hot gas or steam before removing it Cover the drain box to prevent burns.
