How To Choose Diesel For Diesel Generator Set

The main fuel of diesel generator is diesel. Diesel oil is refined and processed from petroleum. Its main characteristics are low self-ignition point, high density, strong stability, safe use and low cost, but its volatility is poor. When the ambient temperature is low, it is difficult to start the diesel engine. The nature of diesel has a great impact on the power, economy and reliability of diesel engines.

1、 Main performance of diesel.

The lowest temperature at which diesel fuel will spontaneously ignite without external ignition is called the autoignition temperature of diesel fuel. The self-ignition performance of diesel fuel is expressed by cetane number. The higher the cetane number, the lower the self-ignition temperature and the easier the ignition. However, too high or too low cetane number is not good. The cetane number is too high. Although it is easy to ignite and works softly, it has poor stability and high fuel consumption. The cetane number is too low, and the diesel engine works rough. The cetane number of diesel used in general diesel engines is 30-60.

The viscosity of diesel fuel is the main index that affects the atomization of diesel fuel. It indicates the viscosity and flow difficulty of diesel oil. The viscosity is large, the oil droplets formed during injection are large, the injection distance is long, but the dispersion is poor, the mixture with air is uneven, the diesel engine is easy to smoke when working, and the fuel consumption increases. The lower the temperature, the greater the viscosity. On the contrary, it is the opposite.

The flow performance of diesel oil is mainly expressed by freezing point (freezing point). The so-called freezing point refers to the temperature when the diesel loses its fluidity. If the temperature of diesel oil is lower than the freezing point, the diesel oil will not flow, the fuel supply will be interrupted, and the diesel engine will not work. Therefore, the freezing point is one of the main bases for selecting diesel fuel.

2、 Specification and selection of diesel.

GB 252-2011 Common Diesel Oil divides common diesel oil into seven grades according to its freezing point:

No. 10 ordinary diesel is suitable for use in areas with a risk rate of 10% and a minimum temperature of more than 12 ℃.

No. 5 ordinary diesel is suitable for use in areas with a risk rate of 10% and a minimum temperature of more than 8 ℃.

No. 0 ordinary diesel oil is suitable for use in areas where the lowest temperature is above 4 ℃ with a risk rate of 10%.

-No. 10 ordinary diesel is suitable for use in areas where the lowest temperature is above - 5 ℃ with a risk rate of 10%.

-No. 20 ordinary diesel is suitable for use in areas where the lowest temperature is above - 14 ℃ with a risk rate of 10%.

-No. 35 ordinary diesel is suitable for use in areas where the lowest temperature is above - 29 ℃ with a risk rate of 10%.

-No. 50 ordinary diesel is suitable for use in areas where the lowest temperature is above - 44 ℃ with a risk rate of 10%.
