Maintenance of Small Fastener Nuts for Perkins Diesel Generator Sets

Nut is an inconspicuous small component of Perkins diesel generator set, but many people know that the maintenance work for this small nut cannot be ignored. Let's follow the Starlight for a few examples.

1. Rocker arm seat nut. For rocker arm seat nuts, regular inspections should be conducted during use in conjunction with maintenance. If the rocker arm seat nut is loosened, the valve clearance will increase, the valve opening will be delayed, the valve closing will be advanced, and the valve opening duration will be shortened, resulting in insufficient air supply, dirty exhaust, reduced power, and increased fuel consumption in the diesel engine.

2. Fuel injector lock nut. When installing the fuel injector, its lock nut should be tightened to the specified torque. At the same time, it is best to repeatedly tighten it several times, not all at once. If the locking nut of the fuel injection nozzle is tightened too tightly, it will cause the locking nut to deform and easily cause the needle valve to jam; If the screw is too loose, it can cause oil leakage from the fuel injector, decrease the injection pressure, poor atomization, and increase fuel consumption.

3. The oil outlet valve is tightly seated. When installing the tight seat of the fuel outlet valve of the fuel injection pump, it is also necessary to follow the specified torque. If the tight seat of the oil outlet valve is tightened too tightly, it will deform the plunger sleeve, cause the plunger to block in the sleeve, and cause early wear of the plunger coupling, decreased sealing performance, and insufficient power; If the tight seat of the fuel outlet valve is too loose, it will cause oil leakage from the fuel injection pump, unable to establish oil pressure, delayed fuel delivery, and reduced fuel delivery, seriously affecting engine performance.

4. Injector pressure plate nut. When installing the fuel injector assembly on the cylinder head of a Perkins diesel engine, in addition to paying attention to removing dirt such as carbon deposits from the mounting base of the fuel injector assembly, ensuring that the pressure plate of the fuel injector assembly is not installed upside down, and that the thickness of the steel gasket is appropriate and cannot be omitted, attention should also be paid to the tightening torque of the pressure plate nuts of the fuel injector assembly. If the tightening torque of the pressing plate nut is too large, the valve body of the fuel injector will deform, causing the fuel injector to jam, and the diesel engine cannot work; If the tightening torque is too small, the fuel injector may leak, causing insufficient cylinder pressure, making it difficult to start a Perkins diesel engine, and high-temperature gas may rush out and burn out the fuel injector.

As a necessary small component, nuts are not allowed to be purchased as spare parts to facilitate timely replacement and improve the efficiency of equipment maintenance.
