Rated speed refers to the speed of the engine at rated power, which is specified by the manufacturer. The rated speed is generally lower than the maximum power speed at full load, and the higher the rated speed, the greater the rated power.

The rated speed is the speed of the motor at the rated magnetic flux, at which the rated electromotive force is equal to the rated voltage. To avoid overvoltage damage to insulation, the electromotive force should not exceed the rated voltage. So how to conduct an on-site inspection of the rated speed of a diesel engine?

Because effective power is equal to the product of effective torque and crankshaft speed. So, the rated speed directly affects the output power of the diesel engine. When suspecting that insufficient rated power is caused by a decrease in rated speed, the vehicle should be checked to see if the rated speed has decreased. Most modern car diesel engines are equipped with a tachometer, which can be used to confirm.

The method is: the coolant and oil volume of the diesel generator should be sufficient, and the oil passage of the low-pressure oil circuit system should be unobstructed. Raise the temperature of the diesel generator to above 80 ℃, then apply the throttle to the bottom. When the diesel generator is idling and the tachometer pointer stabilizes at a certain speed value, quickly release the throttle. This speed value is the highest idle speed, which can be approximately considered as the rated speed value.

For diesel generators with mechanical speed regulation in vehicles, the maximum no-load speed should generally be 8% to 10% higher than the rated speed (if the maximum power speed of a diesel engine is 2000r/min, the maximum no-load speed should not be less than 2160r/min). Both too high and too low are abnormal. If there is a problem with the maximum no-load speed (too high or too low), the high-speed limit screw on the fuel injection pump can be adjusted.
