Precautions for Purchasing Solar Generators Part 2

Before you make a purchase, determine all your expenses. Your installation program will go through normal wholesale channels, and you will pay the retail price. Some things are much cheaper to buy from certain suppliers, regardless of whether there is a subsidy or not, you must buy them there and then send them by express delivery. Before you buy something, be sure to check its price.

Battery. Assuming you have a larger installation, you will be running a 24V or 48V system. Which one to choose? We have 48V, which means a 24x2V battery. A 24V system with the same battery capacity will have 12 2V batteries, but each battery will be twice the size. Why would you choose one of them? My opinion is that 48V is more elegant, but there are also more kits available for 24V. How can you understand this? A four cylinder car engine is good, but an eight cylinder engine is better, although more expensive. I don't think it really matters which one you choose. 48V will make you spend a little more money, so if your budget is limited, go for 24V, but the difference is not significant.

Battery. What is the only important thing about batteries? They will never exceed their nominal value. Therefore, we have 24 2-volt batteries with a nominal voltage of 48 volts. Depending on the temperature, these batteries can actually be charged to around 60 volts. This "overcharging" is called "absorption" and cleaning of lead plates. After a few hours, the charging controller will drop the voltage to around 54 volts, which is called floating. If your battery discharges below its nominal value, which in our case is 48 volts, they will be destroyed, which means they will never be fully charged again. Please understand this, this is the most important fact among all your solar installations. If you can't learn anything else from it, remember not to let your battery discharge below the nominal voltage. Half of all numbers in the 24V system.

The battery needs to be filled with distilled water and does not require anything else. So, as long as you don't let them drop below the nominal voltage, don't worry about anything except filling them with oil and keeping them lubricated to prevent oxygen from corroding them. When there is no sun or wind, you will have to use a generator to charge them. Normally, you will have a sufficiently large battery pack to live without sunlight for three days, but during these three days, you will not be using a swimming pool pump, washing machine, hair dryer, etc. You can still use lighting and some luxury items such as televisions, but common sense tells you that the more batteries you remove, the faster they approach 48 volts, and then you must take action.
