Diesel generator sets are equipment for transmitting power, and the transmission belt is an indispensable and important component of such equipment. Daily attention to inspecting and adjusting the transmission belt can effectively create good working conditions for the normal operation of diesel generators. When the following situations occur with the transmission belt, it must be replaced.
1. When the transmission belt of a diesel generator is contaminated with lubricating oil, fuel, or other harmful liquids, the belt is prone to slipping, and these liquids have a corrosive effect on the rubber in the belt, which can accelerate the aging and fracture of the belt. To avoid faults during the operation of the unit, the belt should be replaced immediately.
2. When cracks appear on the base layer of the transmission belt, that is, when cracks, core fractures, or groove section cracks appear on the belt, it needs to be replaced immediately;
3. The base layer and groove section of the belt are separated;
4. The base is worn and cracked;
5. Pull the rope and scatter the thread;
6. Severe side wear (i.e. loose lines, damaged side materials, side hardening, sliding side, upper surface cracks);
7. There should be a certain gap between the inner diameter of the belt groove section and the bottom of the pulley groove. When no gap is found, a new belt needs to be replaced.
When any of the above situations are found in the transmission belt of the diesel generator set, users should replace it in a timely manner. Dingbo Electric recommends that you refer to the following methods for operation:
1. When replacing the belt, the method of reducing the center distance between the pulleys is usually used to install the belt, which is both convenient and labor-saving. Never roll the belt over the pulley or use tools such as screwdrivers to pry it up, as both methods can damage the belt and cause early damage.
2. Usually, the entire set of belts is replaced, and for the same set of belts, the depth difference between the embedded belts should not exceed 1.6mm (1/16 ").
3. The belt should not sink into the bottom of the pulley groove, nor should it protrude 2.4mm above the upper edge of the pulley groove.
4. The misalignment of the pulley should not exceed 1.6mm/03m between the centers of the two pulleys.
5. The belt should not rub against any adjacent parts.
6. Adjust the transmission belt to the appropriate tension. If the belt is too loose, it will cause the belt to slip on the wheel, reduce the transmission efficiency of the belt, and cause serious wear of the belt. If the tension is too high, it will cause the support shafts of the water pump, engine, and fan to bear too much force, leading to early damage to the bearings.
In addition to timely replacement of damaged transmission belts, it is important to regularly check the tightness of the belts on a daily basis. When repairing or repairing diesel generator sets, or when there is insufficient lubricating grease in the bearings of water pumps, fans, etc., lubricating grease should be injected into the bearings of the water pumps, fans, etc. in a timely manner to reduce bearing wear and other effective ways to delay the damage of the transmission belts. If you have a need to replace the transmission belts, Dingbo Electric can provide you with professional services and provide maintenance suggestions and precautions after replacement, helping users extend the service life of diesel generator sets.
