Nowadays, more and more industries are using diesel generators. Generators can be used for small loads as well as large loads, such as factories, hospitals and commercial buildings. They can be the main power source or the backup power source. The application field of generators extends to almost all industries. If you observe from under the hood of all the equipment you pass by, you can observe them every day.
In today's world, fuel prices are rising due to rapid increase in demand and declining supply, and users need to choose a cost-effective fuel to meet their needs.
We all know that the price of diesel is slightly higher than that of gasoline, but the energy density of diesel is higher, that is, compared with gasoline of the same volume, diesel can extract more energy. For example, diesel engines in automobiles provide higher mileage, making them the first choice for heavy-duty transportation and equipment. Diesel is heavier than gasoline and has a higher boiling point than water. Due to higher efficiency and cost-effectiveness, diesel engines are receiving more and more attention.
The difference between diesel generators and gasoline generators is the type of ignition. When gasoline engines rely on spark ignition to operate, diesel engines use compression ignition to ignite the fuel. In the latter case, air is sucked into the engine and is highly compressed, thereby warming the engine. This causes the temperature in the engine to be very high, much higher than the temperature reached in a gasoline engine. At peak temperatures and pressures, diesel fuel entering the engine will ignite due to extreme temperatures.
In a diesel engine, air and fuel are injected into the engine at different stages, as opposed to a gas engine that introduces a mixture of air and gas. Fuel is injected into the diesel engine with an injector, and in a gasoline engine, the carburetor is used for this purpose. In a gasoline engine, fuel and air are fed into the engine together and then compressed. The mixture of air and fuel limits the compression of the fuel, thereby limiting the overall efficiency.
Diesel engines only compress air, and the ratio can be much higher. The compression ratio of diesel engines is between 14:1 and 25:1, while the compression ratio of gasoline engines is between 8:1 and 12:1. After combustion, the by-products of combustion are discharged from the engine through exhaust gas.
When starting the generator in the cold season, additional heat is provided through the "glow plug". The diesel engine can be two-cycle or four-cycle, and it is selected according to the operating mode. Air-cooled and liquid-cooled engines are variants that need to be appropriately selected. It is best to use a liquid-cooled generator.
Advantages of Starlight Power's diesel generators:
Compared with gasoline generators, diesel generators are more efficient and more popular for the following reasons:
1. Modern diesel generators overcome the shortcomings of earlier models of noise and higher maintenance costs. Compared with gasoline generators of similar size, they produce lower noise and require less maintenance.
2. Diesel generators are more robust and reliable.
3. There is no spark when the fuel ignites spontaneously. No spark plugs or spark plug wires reduce maintenance costs.
4. The fuel cost per kilowatt produced is 30-50% lower than that of a gasoline engine.
5. A 1800 rpm water-cooled diesel generator set will run for 12,000 to 30,000 hours before any major maintenance is required. A water-cooled gasoline generator set with a speed of 1800 rpm usually runs for 6000-10000 hours before it needs to be repaired.
6.Gasoline generator sets burn hotter than diesel generator sets, so their life span is much shorter than diesel generator sets.
