Diesel injectors are used to inject diesel fuel into diesel engines or compression ignition engines. This fuel is directly injected into the engine through an injector connected to the cylinder of the diesel engine.
This fuel injection system basically consists of the following components: fuel injection device (nozzle and nozzle seat), fuel supply pipeline, intake valve, and diesel engine exhaust valve.
The functions of diesel fuel injector components are as follows:
A device for fuel injection: Each cylinder of a compression ignition engine is connected to a fuel injector, so each cylinder has its own diesel supply pipeline, which delivers diesel from the diesel tank to the diesel engine. The fuel injector consists of a nozzle and a nozzle seat.
1. Diesel supply pipeline: Each cylinder of a diesel engine has its own diesel supply pipeline, which delivers diesel from the diesel tank to the CI engine.
2. Inlet valve: The function of the intake valve is to draw air into the combustion chamber. Mixing air with condensed diesel enhances combustion.
3. Diesel engine exhaust valve: It plays an important role in eliminating the emissions generated by the diesel engine combustion chamber.
Once the fuel comes into contact with the injector, it will be subjected to tremendous pressure. This pressure is generated by a small pump connected to the syringe. This small pump pressurizes the fuel by passing air through the injector. High pressure fuel enters and flows downwards to the main body of the nozzle seat, and finally enters the nozzle channel. The diesel fuel injector has a needle valve that is tightly connected to a spring located inside the injector body. Tighten the nut to compress the spring, while generating spring pressure and fuel injector opening pressure.
Once the needle valve is opened, fuel is injected by the diesel injector through a small nozzle located in the combustion chamber of the engine cylinder. The cluster of small holes on the nozzle ensures that it is evenly distributed in the combustion chamber of the cylinder. These small holes are specially designed and arranged to break down fuel into tiny droplets, making them easy to burn.
Next, the intake valve brings air into the combustion chamber and mixes it with condensed diesel, thereby enhancing combustion. Now, the exhaust valve of a fuel engine eliminates the emissions generated by the fuel combustion chamber. The diesel return pipe removes excess diesel by sending it back to the fuel tank from the fuel combustion chamber.
This is the working principle of complex diesel injectors. As is well known, diesel injectors are the most complex components in diesel engines. It can withstand the high pressure and high temperature generated in the cylinder and circulate an equal amount of fuel to the cylinder, ensuring the smooth operation of high-power diesel engines.
