Fuel system

 

The fuel system of a diesel generator is crucial to its functionality. The fuel tank can usually accommodate 7 to 8 hours of use. Small diesel generators often use the fuel tank as part of the equipment, while large diesel generators may require an external diesel generator tank. The main components of the fuel system include:

 

Fuel lines: These pipelines connect the fuel tank to the engine for refueling and fuel recovery.

 

Ventilation: The fuel tank has a ventilation pipe to manage the pressure during filling. Avoid sparks during the filling process.

 

Overcurrent connection: prevent overflow during water tank replenishment.

 

Fuel pump: Operated electrically, it transfers fuel from the main fuel tank to a smaller daytime fuel tank.

 

Fuel water separator/filter: removes water and pollutants to protect components of diesel generators.

 

Fuel injector: This spray and spray fuel into the combustion chamber.

Voltage regulator

 

The voltage regulator controls the output voltage of the diesel generator and is a key component that operates through a periodic process, including various components:

 

Voltage regulator: converts a small portion of AC voltage into DC voltage, which excites the stator winding.

 

Exciting coils: These windings, like the main stator windings, form a small AC connection and are connected to the rotating rectifier.

 

Rotating rectifier: converts AC from the excitation coil to DC, which enters the rotor and enhances its electromagnetic field.

 

Rotor/electric furnace: The rotor generates a higher AC voltage on the stator winding, resulting in a larger output AC voltage of the diesel generator.

 

This cycle mechanism repeats until the diesel generator reaches its full output capacity. As the output increases, the voltage regulator reduces direct current. Once the diesel generator reaches full capacity, the regulator maintains this level.

 

When you add a load to the diesel generator, its voltage slightly decreases. The voltage regulator responds by starting a cycle until the output of the diesel generator returns to its initial capacity.
