The Use of Diesel Generator Crankcase Ventilation Device

During the operation of diesel generators, there is always a portion of combustible mixture and exhaust gas that flows into the crankcase through the piston rings. The fuel vapor that flows into the crankcase will condense, causing the engine oil to become thinner and the performance to deteriorate. The exhaust gas contains water vapor and sulfur dioxide. The water vapor condenses in the engine oil to form foam, which destroys the engine oil supply, especially in winter; Sulfur dioxide reacts with water to form sulfite, while sulfite reacts with oxygen in the air to form sulfuric acid. The presence of these acidic substances not only deteriorates engine oil, but also corrodes parts.

Due to the combustible mixture and exhaust gas entering the crankcase, the pressure inside the crankcase will increase, and oil will seep out from the crankshaft oil seal, crankcase gasket, and other areas and be lost. The oil vapor lost to the atmosphere will increase the pollution of diesel engines to the atmosphere. The diesel engine equipped with a crankcase ventilation device can avoid or reduce the above phenomena. Therefore, the function of the diesel generator crankcase ventilation device is to: 1. prevent oil deterioration; 2. Prevent leakage of crankshaft oil seal and crankcase gasket; 3. Prevent various oily vapors from polluting the atmosphere.


Connect an oil and gas separator in the pipeline connecting the crankcase and intake pipe to separate the oil and gas extracted from the crankcase, allowing liquid oil to flow back into the crankcase and gaseous gas to be sucked into the intake pipe, thereby reducing oil consumption. The Steyr diesel engine adopts this type of oil gas separator, which is installed at the front end of the diesel engine cylinder head.


When the diesel generator is working, the oil and gas that enters the crankcase enter the oil and gas separator through the pipeline. As the lower surface of the oil and gas separator is inclined, liquid oil flows back to the crankcase through the return pipe along the inclined surface, while gaseous oil and gas enter the intake duct through the connecting pipe and are sucked into the combustion chamber for combustion, thereby reducing exhaust gas pollution.


In the pipeline connecting the crankcase and intake pipe, not only is a one-way valve connected, but also an oil and gas separator is connected, greatly reducing oil consumption and ensuring stable oil lubrication of diesel generators under various working conditions.
