(2) Adjustment method of speed controller
1. Initial adjustment: First, ensure that the idle potentiometer and the no-load high-speed potentiometer are both in the middle position. Rotate the idle potentiometer and the no-load high-speed potentiometer counterclockwise for 20 turns, and then clockwise for 10 turns. Secondly, adjust the gain potentiometer to the middle position or position the scale at "5" (i.e. adjust the stroke to 112). Finally, to ensure synchronous operation of the diesel generator with the load, rotate the speed droop potentiometer counterclockwise to the bottom.
2. Speed adjustment: When the diesel generator is idling, adjust the idle potentiometer until the diesel engine speed is within the range of 600-650r/min.
Place the diesel generator in operation and adjust the high-speed (no-load) speed according to the rated output frequency of the generator set. By turning the no-load high-speed potentiometer knob, the diesel engine speed can be set to 1500r/min.
3. Gain adjustment: First, connect the load circuit of the generator set (25% of the rated load) to operate the diesel engine at low load.
If the diesel generator runs stably, slowly turn the gain potentiometer clockwise until the diesel engine runs unstably. At this point, slowly rotate the gain potentiometer counterclockwise until the diesel engine stabilizes again. To ensure that the adjustment of the gain potentiometer is not in the critical position, continue to rotate the gain potentiometer counterclockwise, and the rotation range should not exceed half a scale.
4. Speed droop adjustment: Gradually increase the load of the generator set to the rated load. At this time, check the frequency meter. If it is still 50Hz, it indicates that the synchronous operation is normal.
If the frequency meter displays below 50Hz, it indicates that the speed drop is too high. The speed drop potentiometer should be slowly turned counterclockwise until it reaches 50Hz. Subsequently, it is necessary to recheck the no-load high-speed speed by cutting off the load switch to ensure that the diesel engine runs at high speed without load.
If the speed of the Cummins diesel generator is still 1500r/min, there is no need to adjust it; Otherwise, the diesel engine speed should be readjusted to 1500r/min according to the "speed adjustment" method, and then the "speed drop" adjustment should be repeated. In order to obtain a stable current output frequency, it is usually necessary to perform two or three repeated adjustments.
