Most engines are unable to withstand sustained particulate pollution exceeding 15 milligrams per liter (before fuel filtration). Due to the uncleanness of the fuel injection device and the inability to maintain the correct size of fuel droplets, fuel cannot enter the combustion chamber normally. In fact, all degraded fuels - especially acidic ones - can cause corrosion of fuel system components.

For moisture, the lifespan and performance of the injector begin to decline when the moisture content is very low at 0.05% of the measured value. Fuel contaminated with water (the water component in it becomes vapor when heated in the combustion chamber of a diesel generator) can damage the fuel injectors, reduce flammability, and have adverse effects on the ability of diesel lubricated engines. Water can also promote the formation of ice crystals in diesel generators, especially when large heaters cannot provide enough heat, which can easily solve major problems.

Fuel analysis

Every six months, the operator should analyze the pollutants in the fuel.

Fuel screening

When conducting fuel analysis, at least once a year or at least once a year, the fuel should be subjected to heavy load screening to remove a large amount of sludge, rust, and other pollutants from the oil tank.

After each overload screening, a large amount of fuel filtration, water separation, and fuel adjustment should be carried out.

Technicians may suggest adding fuel treatment agents and catalysts to the fuel tank based on the severity of pollution to remove deposits in the engine and prevent their formation in the future.
