How to Properly Operate Volvo Generators

Check whether the oil in the oil sump and fuel injection pump is sufficient, and keep the oil close to the graduation line on the oil level gauge. Check whether there is enough diesel in the daily diesel tank, turn on the fuel tank switch, and check whether there is leakage in the fuel pipeline. Check whether there are bubbles in the fuel pipeline. If there are bubbles, the air in the pipeline should be exhausted, otherwise it will affect the normal start of the Volvo generator. Comprehensively check the connection of each part of the Volvo generator is normal, and whether the fasteners and screws are loose. Check whether the generator electric start circuit is correct and whether the connection of each line is loose. Whether the battery has enough power.

The Volvo generator can be started only after the above-mentioned inspections and preparations before starting up: insert the starting key, turn the starting switch to the starting position, and the diesel engine starts. If the diesel engine cannot be successfully started, the continuous working time should not exceed 10 seconds. If the first start is unsuccessful, it should be started for the second time after two minutes. If it is unsuccessful three times in a row, the reason should be checked separately.

After the Volvo generator is successfully started, it will remain idle (the diesel engine speed is 750~800 rpm) and run for about 5 minutes. The operation in the idling state can effectively lubricate the internal parts of the diesel engine with the engine oil, and also play a role in warming the engine. While idling, check the diesel engine pressure gauge, observe whether the oil pressure gauge counts, and check whether each component has three leaks (oil, water, and air leakage).

After idling for 5 minutes, gradually increase the speed of the diesel engine to reach the standard speed (1500 rpm), and check again whether the oil pressure gauge counts normally. At this time, the oil pressure gauge reading should be between 3~5kg. Check the generator three-phase voltage Whether the count of the meter is 400V and the reading of the frequency meter is 50Hz. After keeping the unit running at the standard speed for 2 to 3 minutes, it is ready to switch on and transmit power and enter the load operation process.

When loading, not all electrical equipment should be started at the same time. Large electrical equipment should be started first (because the instantaneous starting current of large electrical equipment is relatively too large), and then small electrical equipment should be started gradually. When loading, it must be remembered that no overload operation, no overload operation, and no overload operation are allowed. During the operation of the unit, pay attention to the water volume, oil volume, water temperature, oil temperature, and oil pressure at any time, and replenish it in time. If abnormalities are found, the machine should be shut down for inspection.

The following points should also be achieved during the shutdown phase of Volvo generators: Before determining the need to shut down, the load should be gradually removed before opening and preparing for shutdown. Reduce the speed of the diesel engine to the idle state. After running the vehicle empty for 3 to 5 minutes (decrease the internal temperature of the diesel engine), pull the diesel engine flameout switch until the diesel engine is completely stopped. Close the fuel tank valve and cut off the battery power.
