Method for Adjusting the Size of VE Distribution Pump in Diesel Generators

Jan. 24, 2024

There are many structural types of distribution pumps for diesel generators, and the VE type distribution pump is one of the more advanced ones. VE pumps can use return oil solenoid valves to solve the problem of difficult cold start. By controlling the energization of the return oil solenoid valve, the amount of return oil can be reduced, and the pump chamber pressure can be effectively increased.

The adjustment method for the KF, K, and MS dimensions of the diesel generator VE distribution pump is as follows:

(1) Adjustment of KF size. The KF size is the adjustment of the pre tension force of the return spring of the VE distribution pump plunger. On the pump head of the distribution pump, install the guide pin, adjusting gasket, upper seat of the return spring, etc. in the original disassembly relative position, and then install the plunger, lower seat of the return spring, etc. together. Install the dial gauge on a dedicated measuring head, which is installed on the detection screw hole of the distribution pump. Measure the distance between the top surface of the plunger and the end face of the plunger sleeve. When the plunger return spring is not compressed, the measured distance above is the KF dimension. The KF size of the VE4/11Fl900R294 fuel injection pump is 5.2-5.4mm. If the KF size does not meet the requirements, the adjusting gasket thickness of the guide pin needs to be changed.

(2) Adjustment of K size. After the KF size adjustment is qualified, install the guide pin, adjusting gasket, upper seat of return spring, plunger return spring, governor lever return spring, 0-shaped sealing ring, plunger, lower seat of return spring, and oil quantity control sleeve back on the pump head according to the original disassembly relative position, so that the large end gap of the fuel injection plunger meshes with the driving pin on the flat cam plate. Fix the pump head onto the pump body with a torque of 11-13N · m. Measure the distance between the top surface of the plunger and the end surface of the plunger sleeve using a dedicated measuring head and a dial gauge, which is the K dimension. The K size of the VE4/llF900R294 fuel injection pump is 3.3mm. If the K size does not meet the requirements, the fuel injection plunger adjustment gasket can be used for adjustment. The thickness of the plunger adjustment gasket is 1.78-2.90mm, with one specification every 0.02, and a total of 56 options available.

(3) Adjustment of MS size. Install the maximum fuel supply adjustment screw and make it protrude to the end face of the governor cover before disassembly. Fix the special tool on the pump body and keep the adjustment lever in contact with one of the locating pins of the special tool. Then use a feeler gauge to measure the gap between the sliding sleeve pin and the rod, which is the MS dimension, i.e. the gap for starting the thickening device. The MS size of VE pump is 0.8-1.Omm. If the MS size does not match, the sliding sleeve assembly on the adjuster assembly should be removed again and replaced with a sliding sleeve pin of appropriate thickness.
