Reasons for Uneven Temperature in The Generator Manifold

My manifold is glowing hot? Why?

Under high loads in many diesel generator engines, the manifold does indeed generate heat, especially when equipped with a turbocharger.

Is the temperature of my generator manifold uneven? Why?

Firstly, some places may be colder than others, which may be caused by several reasons:

You think it's hotter because of its color, but you haven't measured it yet

Relying on color is not a reliable way to determine how hot a manifold is at a certain point. With this radiance, different colors will appear under different lighting conditions. Therefore, please make sure to check that the infrared thermometer is already calibrated. Using inexpensive uncalibrated tools can yield unreliable results.

From another perspective, you can see that the white and yellow circles appear darker (i.e. colder) than the one in the picture. This is because of the lighting and demonstration why they should be measured.

Uneven thickness of manifold

No two manifolds are exactly the same, some may have thicker points than others, resulting in lower external temperatures. You can tell from the color - once again, you measured better! In the following example, you can see the intentionally thickened part of the manifold - it looks darker because it is colder.

Different gas flow rates

At different points on the manifold, you will have different gas flow rates. As you can see from the diagram below, the first engine cylinder on the left is connected, the second in the middle, and then the third. This indicates that due to the less hot gas passing through the pipeline (and therefore less energy in the gas), the temperature is lower.

It is also worth noting that the manifold on the bent pipe may be thicker than the straight pipe section, which may also cause this effect.
