Solution to Oil and Water Leakage of 500KW Diesel Generator Set

Whether it is a domestic or imported diesel generator set, improper use or maintenance may result in oil and water leakage during the use of a 500KW diesel generator set. Diesel generator set manufacturers recommend that users learn to analyze the location of oil and water leakage and then understand the methods to solve this problem.

The oil leakage of the diesel generator set may be due to the leakage of the oil pan gasket. The possible reasons for oil leakage may be that the purchased or self-made paper pads do not meet the required quality standards, such as insufficient thickness, improper storage, wrinkling and deformation, or lack of attention to cleaning during assembly, which may be contaminated with dust and impurities.

The solution to oil leakage from the oil pan gasket of a diesel generator set is to replace the gasket. The method for replacing the oil pan gasket is as follows.

(1) Use a socket wrench or a ring wrench to diagonally remove all the fixing screws of the oil pan.

(2) After disassembly, clean the parts of the oil pan and crankcase that come into contact with the gasket, apply sealant, and then assemble the gasket neatly.

(3) During the assembly process, screws should be tightened diagonally, and one screw should not be tightened before the second one. After all the screws are tightened, gradually tighten all the screws according to the technical requirements. If the management personnel do not understand, they can ask professional diesel generator maintenance personnel to operate and replace it.

Excessive oil pressure can also cause oil leakage at the static joint surface. Diesel leakage at the interfaces of the fuel transfer pump and diesel filter in diesel generator sets is generally caused by damaged gaskets or loose return screws. The solutions are as follows:

(1) If it is caused by loose oil return screws, the maintenance personnel only need to use a ring wrench to tighten it to the specified torque.

(2) If oil leakage is caused by damaged gaskets, new gaskets should generally be replaced.

Fresh water pump leakage

(1) If the monitoring hole of the freshwater pump also leaks, the freshwater pump should be removed from the body and disassembled, and then the water seal should be replaced.

(2) When the drain valve installed on the freshwater pump leaks due to spring damage, a new spring or drain valve can be replaced. Maintenance personnel should apply lubricating grease on the spring of the drain valve to prevent rusting of the spring.

Water radiator leakage

(1) The repair method for the upper and lower compartments of the radiator: After detecting the leaking part of the radiator, the leaking part should be cleaned thoroughly, and then the metal paint and rust should be thoroughly removed with a metal brush or scraper, and then repaired with solder. If there is a large area of leakage in the fixing screws of the upper and lower water chambers, the upper and lower water chambers can be removed and two appropriately sized water chambers can be remade. Before assembling the upper and lower chambers, apply adhesive or sealant on the top and bottom of the sealing gasket, and then fix it with screws.

(2) The repair method for radiator water pipes: If the outer water pipe of the radiator is found to have a small damaged area during the inspection process, tin welding can be used for repair. If the damaged area is large, use sharp nose pliers to clamp the two ends of the damaged pipe to prevent water leakage. But the number of blocked water pipes should not be too many, otherwise it will affect the heat dissipation effect of the radiator. If the internal water pipes of the radiator are damaged, remove the upper and lower water chambers and replace or weld the internal water pipes of the radiator.

Water pipe leakage

When water pipes leak due to aging, they should be replaced with new ones. Waterproof tape can also be used for wrapping. If there is water leakage due to rusting of the clip, the clip can be replaced or wrapped with wire.
