Solutions to Common Faults in Low Noise Generator Sets Part 1

Today, we will briefly introduce some common troubleshooting methods for low noise generator sets.

Low pressure oil supply obstruction: The inlet and outlet pipelines of the diesel engine from the fuel tank to the injection pump inlet chamber are all low-pressure oil pipelines. When the pipeline joints, gaskets, and oil pipes are damaged and leak, air will enter the oil pipeline and cause air resistance, resulting in poor oil supply. The engine may experience difficulties starting, slow acceleration, and other faults, and in severe cases, it will automatically shut down.

When the oil pipe of the generator set is aged, deformed, and blocked by impurities, resulting in a decrease in the cross-sectional area of the oil flow, or when the oil is blocked into the oil filter and diesel filter due to dirt, it will cause insufficient fuel supply, resulting in a decrease in engine power and difficulty in starting. The inspection and troubleshooting of this type of malfunction can be completed on the vehicle. Use a hand pump to pump oil to a certain pressure, loosen the bleed screw, and if there are bubbles that overflow and the exhaust cannot be completely exhausted, it indicates that air is entering the oil circuit; If there are no bubbles but the diesel oil overflows weakly from the bleed screw, it indicates that the oil circuit is blocked.

The normal phenomenon is that by slightly loosening the bleed screw, an oil column immediately sprays out at a certain pressure. The method of troubleshooting is to find damaged or aged gaskets, joints, or oil pipes and replace them; The method to prevent such faults is to frequently clean the oil inlet filter screen and diesel filter element, check the pipeline frequently, and promptly solve any problems found.

The piston spring of the fuel delivery pump of the generator set is broken: the engine suddenly stalls during operation and cannot start. After loosening the bleed screw and checking, it was found that there was no or very little fuel in the low-pressure oil chamber of the fuel injection pump. Use a hand pump to pump oil until the entire low-pressure oil chamber is filled with oil, exhaust the air, and restart. The engine returned to normal, but after driving for a distance, it automatically stopped again. This fault phenomenon is likely due to a broken piston spring of the fuel transfer pump. This fault can be resolved on the vehicle by unscrewing the screws and replacing the spring.
