According to the different roles played by the various components of the diesel engine, a four stroke turbocharged diesel engine is divided into the following parts.
(1) Crank connecting rod mechanism
The crank connecting rod mechanism is a mechanism that converts thermal energy into mechanical energy. The combustion chamber is filled with a mixture of fuel and air. After the combustion of fuel in the combustion chamber, a large amount of thermal energy is generated. The thermal energy causes the gas in the cylinder to expand, thereby increasing the cylinder pressure. The gas pressure acts on the piston, pushing it to move back and forth in a straight line. The connecting rod rotates the crankshaft, thereby achieving the conversion of thermal energy to mechanical energy.
(2) Valve distribution mechanism
The combustion of fuel in diesel engines requires air, and the conversion of thermal energy to mechanical energy relies on the expansion of gases. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly supply sufficient air to the cylinder of the diesel engine, and the valve distribution mechanism is to regularly supply sufficient fresh air to the cylinder according to the needs of the diesel engine's working process, and discharge the used gas and waste gas after fuel combustion from the cylinder.
(3) Fuel supply system
The fuel supply system of a diesel engine plays a role in supplying a certain pressure of diesel to the cylinder at a fixed time, quantity, and pressure according to the needs of the diesel engine's working process.
(4) Lubrication system
The various moving surfaces of a diesel engine require lubrication to reduce friction. The function of the lubrication system is to transport lubricating oil to the friction surfaces of various moving parts during and before the operation of the diesel engine, thereby ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the diesel engine.
(5) Cooling system
During the operation of a diesel engine, the heat generated by fuel combustion and friction of moving parts increases the temperature of the diesel engine, affecting its normal operation. The function of the cooling system is to cool the diesel engine with water or air, keeping it within the normal operating temperature range.
(6) Start the system
The diesel engine transitions from a stationary state to a working state with the help of external forces, which is called the starting process. The system equipment required to complete the starting process is called the starting system.
(7) Body components
The body components are the framework of a diesel engine, used to support and install the components of various mechanisms and systems.
(8) Boosting system
At present, many diesel engines adopt exhaust gas turbocharging technology, which greatly increases power and reduces fuel consumption rate. The device used to achieve pressurization is called a pressurization system.
